I have been running a dedicated server hosted by hostingbydesign for about a year. Currently hosted in the Netherlands however this results in high ping and latency which is bad for transferring files. Looking to switch to a service closer to me.

I am curious as to others experiences with these services/any recommendations.

How are you transferring the files? If you aren’t using segmented/parallel transfers you’re gonna be in for a bad time. I’d recommend using mscp (cli/command line tool). I use it often and I max out my local 2.5Gbit line when pulling downloaded ISOs from my box.

Been using whatbox for a bit on recommendation from a friend who has used it for a decade or so. I could be crazy but I seem to remember them offering hosting right in the Netherlands in particular.

I’m using whatbox, hosted in the Netherlands. I’ve had the same server with them for more than a year. They gave me a free storage and bandwidth upgrade at one point -they said they upgraded hardware. Nothing but positive experiences. Great speeds for uploading, downloading and downloading to my local device.
