      Dresden was a massively important rail hub. The loe that it had no military value was spread by Nazis to garner sympathy after WW2

        The Nazis, and modern fascists, point to Dresden to frame themselves as the victims, so it’s good to be very critical of anyone doing the same. But there is a more nuanced discussion to be had, for example, the initial raids targeted the population center, not the industrial areas around the city, and only a later raid targeted the rail stations. And terror bombing was certainly a part of the motivations (as it was in Japan, to an even larger extend)
