As a non-American, this is definitely something that’s been an annoyance for as long as I can remember. Whenever the US decides it wants a war, every other country in the world is expected to join in (the “Coalition of the Willing” springs to mind) or else be bullied at best (Freedom Fries) or labelled an enemy at worst just for not wanting to spend huge amounts of resources and hundreds/thousands of lives on a war that’s nothing to do with them.
But then when it comes to any sort of international agreement that would benefit everyone such as the Paris Climate Agreement, the Ottawa Treaty, the Rome Statute of the ICC, or the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, guess who doesn’t step up?
The US seems to want all the power of being the World Police, without any responsibility towards the stewardship of the planet. They could pretty much get away with it so far IMO because they were so powerful, but now that the political system there seems to be falling apart, who knows? I am certain though that if things continue to get worse and the US faces a serious crisis like another civil war or something, they’ll find a way to make it everybody else’s problem as well.
It’s kind of like some unwritten social thing and it drives me nuts. I’m glad people booed US teams during hockey games. I’m glad other nations aren’t taking their shirt. No amount of democracy or constitution baked propaganda can convince me that the US isn’t responsible for a lot of the messed up things happening in the world rn. As usual, everybody ignores Africa!
Points for saying “The US” instead of “Trump”, because US fascism didn’t started with Trump and isn’t not going to end with him.
People (liberals, namely) are really starting to forget about Genocide Joe. And Obama took part in couping my country’s prime minister, or at least the CIA under Obama did.
I was gonna say Pakistan but that was actually under Biden.
Obama technically couped the president who was already a military dude so all he did was return the prime minister and install a new general as the real head of state to replace the old one.
Edit:
Second guess is Egypt
honduras, paraguay and brazil.
Nope, it was a different one.
alright, maybe libya?
Nope, it was another country.
Pandaria?
That is not a real country, although if it was I would imagine the US would coup that country’s prime minister too.

And now trump is going to say he heard people want him to be emperor of the planet.
Was wondering what his hat said since it seems to be in the style of maga…
Says “O Brasil é dos Brasileiros” - Brazil Belongs to Brazilians
The slogan “x country for x nationals” when used to reinforce sovereignty in the face of external threats from colonizers is reasonable. It’s not necessarily xenophobic in nature.
Sorry, I should have been more precise. I don’t think Lula is like Trump. Just the hat shared resemblance with its bold two lines of text and that was odd.
At this point he’s the only one directly standing up to the US and it’s bs administration. I sure hope other countries take inspiration.
No worries. It was a valid concern. The key context here is that Lula is trying to reclaim national symbols from far right political opponents that use much less ambiguous slogans such as “brazil above everything, god above everyone”.
I’m glad he fights with his gloves off. It’s very effective. Right wing populism is insidiously contagious and Bolsonaro is in every way as bad as Trump in the US. Thanks for the insights!

It is in the style of maga. Populists are gonna be populists, regardless of flavour.
Edit: Looks like people didn’t like me pointing out that Lula is a populist.
Yes, it is in style of maga, but context is needed. Earlier this year (or last year, I don’t remember quite well), the “patriotic” far-right was going deep into maga speech and behaving like Trump would rescue Brasil from “comunism”. Lula started wearing that hat to counter their speech and reaffirm our sovereignty, which was really important after all the tariffs talk, and also passed off a lot of far-right “patriots”
A very populist move to do.
Lula should do something or shut up.
He is, or rather, Brazil in general is.
- Brazil has a payment system that actively ignores settlement in the US dollar and it is quietly spreading beyond its borders.
- It’s not at all trying to negotiate the current tariffs placed on Brazilian products, just ignoring the Trump administration.
- BRICS itself seems to be getting closer and closer to each other, further undermining US influence and angering Trump.
These are just the things I can think off the top of my head. Your comment just reads ignorant.
