Yet more parent stuff that did not occur to me at all. Im not sure how much I would want to normalize my out of shape ass. I bet a vast majority of us are aware we do not eat healthy enough or exercise enough. This comic comes suspiciously close to one where they were checking out a gym. mmmmmmm.

It isn’t really “normalizing” being out of shape, not like you’re trying to establish being out-of-shape as the standard or norm, simply teaching that there is nothing to feel shame about for being “abnormal”, so to say. When it comes to physical health and fitness, there isn’t really a “normal” to begin with, all bodies are different and what can be healthy for one could be detrimental to another dependent on certain health or mental conditions they may be suffering from. So, we can accept that, yes, being out-of-shape is a sign of negative health conditions but also not something that we should be ashamed of.

It’s good to strive to be healthy and fit, we should encourage people to attempt to be so, but we also don’t know everyone’s struggle. So, shaming those who are “unfit” doesn’t help anything, only makes the person in question feel like shit for something that may be beyond their capacity at that time in their life, which could further push them into unhealthy habits from self-loathing.
