Context: went back to school for career change. Have to do some writing courses alongside research because the quality of scientific writing is abysmal.

What the fuck has changed in the 10 years since I left uni? This makes a mockery of education, and corrupts the trust necessary between teacher and student. This matters to me, I am spending a lot of time and money and I want to become good at my new field. I put effort into the work because, fool that I was, I thought that was the social contract.

I respect the teacher’s work and make an effort to learn from them, they respect my work and make an effort to guide me.

Instead I get vague, dehumanising, buzzword-laden writing shaped… something. It’s not writing, it’s not feedback, it’s just distracting nonsense.

A technology existing doesn’t mean it belongs in a classroom. Even if you think they’re good at assessing text (you’d be wrong but you’re allowed to be) it is not appropriate.

What the fuuuuuuck. I am going to end up sending parcels to computer stores!
