Reminds me of walking quite far and into the docklands area when my friends were visiting me for a night out at university.

Annoying when people assume I’m leading the group just because I’m walking at the front of it.

The first time I read the sentence, my brain auto-corrected that to “We aren’t following you.”

We go through this on our group bike rides when someone who doesn’t have the route is at the front of the group. The person behind can shout directions, if he or she is aware of the issue. It’s good to do that anyway, because it’s easy to miss a notification from your bike computer.
