Yeah fuck this game in particular. Made by a Russian company with ties to their defense industry.
I was going to make an argument that it was probably just research for their real world gun implementation, then I read the article. Big yikes.
Some more sources would’ve been great.
Paying for a cheater infested pvp game is not something I can see myself doing.
I quite like the singleplayer mod. Also the devs apparently support the russian invasion of Ukraine, so don’t give them your money anyway.
I agree, Single Player Tarkov was the only way I found the game playable. The bots could be decently balanced so there was still some challenge and risk to the game.
Still an issue ?
Wouldn’t know. Like I said I can’t see myself paying money for a game infested with cheaters. This is the game that made people aware of the wiggle even among those that didn’t play.
Hit up a buddy that enjoys rage baiting cheaters in game by cheating and hunting them down.
At the moment he says there’s about 2 cheaters for every 10 legit players in a lobby not counting himself.
Which is definitely down from when it peaks right after a wipe. The highest iv seen it at personally is 6 in 10. But that’s normally only few a few weeks right after a wipe when all the RMT cheaters are running around.
Arena is apparently worse off tho with the high ranks being basically just HvH gameplay at the moment.
Damn, this developer is really hell bent on pissing off its fanbase, isn’t it?

They are just doing this to cash out, it costs them nothing to provide a Steam key.
And not a single person was surprised
Yeah it would be the exception for a game that comes to Steam later in its life to give out Steam keys to current owners.
Fuck that Russian company! time to install the single player tarkov mod just because the devs don’t like it.
Good thing I’ll never be playing escape from tarkov again, otherwise I might be bothered
Looked for a Tarkov alternative with pve option (because I don’t need any more sodium in my diet) and found gray zone warfare. It’s a pre alpha and is in a pretty playable state, plus it’s an entire open world which is fantastic.
Soon, in October, we’ll have a new demo for Road to Vostok, a fully pve extraction game made by a single dev that, quite honestly, looks amazing. You should check it out. I think the EA version will come out in 2026.
And made with Godot, an open source game engine!
I played that but it was too sim for me, seems like fun if you want an unforgiving game.
As opposed to EFT? lmao
What? Tarkov is well known for how it coddles the player base and hand holds newbies.
The only thing Tarkov coddles is its developer Nikita. I know of numerous people who’ve tried it and said it’s just TOO complex. I’ve played Gray Zone, and it’s nowhere near as difficult and fully of bullshit as EFT.
My man…. as someone with a few hundred hours in Tarkov…. that was heavy sarcasm. lol
Fucking hell, I missed it completely lol
I tend to describe EFT’s learning curve as “hostile”.
Honestly the best pve alternative to tarkov is just pve tarkov it self.
It’s just a dedicated coop experience, and even has mods.
I regret buying it the first time.
huh, I was interested in picking this up
Guess not
No. They don’t “have to”. Wake up, fellow poors. Stop giving your money away. If “buying” doesn’t equal “ownership”, et al…
Play xonotic instead.
Why wouldn’t it?
