    For whatever reason I parsed this as Portal instead of Minecraft and I spent a statistically significant amount of time trying to figure out how in the hell this was supposed to work

    Iirc there was a way to create a water flow so you threw your stuff to the water, which then were sent through a filter into lava, without mixing water and lava. No danger, all benefits.

      In my day, which was well before even things like half blocks, you would just put a block on the floor, then an empty space, then the roof. Since that left only one block open, you could still throw stuff into the incinerator, but it was hard to accidentally enter it.

        Ah no, my thing is also before half blocks, iirc you used a covered water block to create a current where you threw your stuff, which then went into a stair down, and them somehow filtered. Was it with an opened trap door? Those don’t allow liquid flow even if opened but items do flow, and that into a lava block below. Not sure on the trap door, maybe there was some other material.
