Anyone found a good option for cone filters? Everything in my local stores is from the US. I have been using a reusable filter but i am tired of the mud at the bottom of my cup.
I picked up a Buphalo stainless steel filer and love it. They claim to be Canadian, but I’m not an investigative journalist. If in fact it’s maple washing, sorry in advance. Great filter tho.
Cool! I will check it out
I use hario v60 filters which are made in Japan. I also found kalita another Japanese company that makes the more standard truncated cone shaped filters.
I wasn’t able to find any Canadian made filters, but there are non american filters available.
Also cafec is Japanese, it’s the one I pick up if Hario isn’t available
Not Canadian, but Technivorm are European owned and manufactured.
I personally went French press years ago, everything is reusable and makes a much better cup of go go juice.
I like French press, but I would have to get a huge one. I take a thermos of coffee to work so I don’t have to buy $tarbucks
I just learn to love the mud
Thanks, everyone, for the great responses! I love this community.
Try an espresso pot
Aka Moka pots
Moka pots don’t make espresso, only an espresso machine makes espresso
but if you want espresso-like coffee without spending espresso machine-like money, the moka pot is a good option. It brews with pressure like an espresso machine, and produces coffee with a similar concentration to espresso with trace amounts of crema.
obviously not true espresso, but they are often called stovetop espresso makers nonetheless.
originally from Italy, still made there from some brands, doesn’t use disposable filters, yet brews with minimal sediment. Reasonable option for those looking to deamericanify their morning coffee.
It’s a great option, my parents use their religiously. The coffee is strong enough for making interesting milk drinks so espresso-style is a fair description.
Just wanted to make sure that readers don’t get confused. The moka pot is pressurized but it’s nowhere near what’s needed for what we contemporarily define as espresso
😲
I use one occasionally but i have a nice drip machine that i like.
