I cancelled my Cable back when the boycott started, and most of my streaming services soon after. I use a pihole (https://pi-hole.net/) setup and watch my shows on the Global, CTV, CityTV, and CBC apps so I see no ads. I have an unlimited email package from my web host (hosthero.ca) so I can use a different pseudo-random email address for everything. I do all this because I have had my ID stolen once before and have no desire to go through that poop again, and I hate ads.

Anywho I use an AppleTV as my “SmartTV” stuff, hopefully I will be changing that to a raspberry pi this weekend but that is besides the point, when global posted the new episode of Survivor I got curious about if I should be watching it from the global app. I am sure there are ways that they see that someone has watched it but that is about it. I am thinking if I should maybe be just using Sonarr for all of my US TV shows, that way I still get to see it but I am not counted as a viewer. I am curious as to what others think.

Honestly, I think that’s alot of hoops to jump through and a whole bunch of rationalization to…watch American cultural exports.

When I cut the cord, it was right after the election. I bought a beat up old antique suitcase for 25$ and built a synthesizer out of it (the modules are sourced from local shops, or built in workshops I went to, or made by a Canadian company, Omnitone). Then I got a cheap bass guitar and started teaching myself how to play.

Now I jam out every evening.

    Know what?

It’s a metric ton more entertaining than any episode of survivor I’ve ever seen. As a bonus, I’m not dulling my senses with a chemical bath of Americanisms.
