    Explanation: After the Spartacus revolt, a revolt led by gladiatorial slaves, the resulting prisoners taken by the Roman forces were offered a reward if one of them would point out their leader, Spartacus. None of them did. In popular culture, due to the (very excellent if not necessarily accurate) movie Spartacus (1960), this is represented as all the rebels claiming to be Spartacus.

    Unfortunately for them, as the Romans were not exactly shy about punishing large numbers of slaves or rebels, this simply ended with all of them being crucified.

      There’s a pretty decent theory that says Spartacus was dead by that point, and possibly quite a while before the last battle. In which case it would have been pretty hard to point at him.
