A lot of games I’ve had on my wishlist are at all time low price now, so I wanted to share (I have not played these games):

Heaven’s Vault - I’ve seen it recommended as similar to the Outer Wilds - 5.49 EUR

Doom Eternal - 3.99 EUR

Pistol Whip - VR rhythm shooter - 12.49 EUR

shapez - great automation game (this one I have played and highly recommend if you like the genre) - 0.78 EUR

New-ish games that you can be more patient about:

shapez 2 - 3d successor to the game above - 13.47 EUR

Ghost of Tsushima - 29.92 EUR

Cyclopean: The Great Abyss - Lovecraftian cRPG with very retro graphics - 7.80 EUR

Static Dread: The Lighthouse - Lovevcraftion “Papers please” - 9.59 EUR

The Horror at Highrook - an occult card crafting narrative RPG, ofc Lovecraftian - 12.94 EUR

Little Witch in the Woods - cute casual witch simulator - 11.96 EUR

This list doesn’t cover games I’ve already bought as I do not track their prices.

Are there any games you’d recommend?

As much as I love mass effect (and I do love it very much), I find it hard to recommend it right now because of the launcher requirements. There is a guide on the community page for bypassing the pop up asking you to download the EA launcher, and it did work for me the first time, but after shutting down my system and booting it up later to play again it stopped working for some reason. Might be a me problem I’m not sure. But keep in mind that it will try its best to get you to download their stupid app.

Cheap all-time-low price tag games (according to SteamDB) that I‘ve played myself and can recommend:

    Slime Rancher

    Broforce

    My Friend Pedro

    Dust: An Elysian Tail

Poly Bridge 2 (also the first one)

    Clustertruck

Risk of Rain (the old one)

    The Swapper

    Rogue Legacy

McPixel 3 (also the first one)

    Overcooked (also the second one)

    Party Hard

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince (and other series entries)

    Train Valley

    Minit

All of these are of varying genres so probably most of them aren‘t everyone‘s cup of tea, but maybe one or two are gems that you hadn’t heard about yet. List isn‘t conclusive, obviously, but I don‘t wanna spam too much.

Train Valley is surprisingly good. I like the combination of a geometry puzzle, planning which train to run when and real time pressure (you can pause, but you still have to multitask a lot).

Rise of the Tomb Raider is only £2.50 on GOG which is a great deal. In my opinion it’s by far the best in the newest trilogy.

If you won’t play it because of Epic(?) then it’s your loss I guess as it’s a great game.

I have been playing it, but I’d obviously rather it not be on Epic, is what I’m saying.

Oh ok. Your comment sounded like the standard “I won’t play because it’s not on Steam” that people say but I hope you enjoy it.

I have a great love for games that have a snow/winter themed and ROTTR is no exception as it’s a beautiful game.

shapez 2 wasn’t able to catch my passion at all. The first game was quite simple and got repetitive and boring after a while, and that’s fine. the second one added more mechanics but it didn’t feel any less repetitive

Looking for suggestions for 2D low-spec/laptop friendly games. Picked up Ale Abbey thus far, simulator/colony managers are my jam right now but want some variety too.

Fair warning: lots of roguelikes on this list. Just seems like the devs of these games really like 2d non-demanding visuals. And I don’t know how low do you need to go, so check these individually.

Don’t even need a sale for Moonring, which is a retro turn-based RPG, completely free. Runs on a potato.

Original Monster Train should work decently well, it’s 90% off.

Shogun Showdown is really cool, 50% off. Necesse is a very fun Terraria-like, coming out of EA in like a week and on sale now.

Look into Reus 2, very fun, but it’s got some more visual effects so may be a bit too much. Same with Astral Ascent, one of my fave action roguelikes but, well, it’s action. Needs a decent framerate. Same with Dead Cells, Cult of the Lamb and Chronicon - great games, 2d, but may require a basic dedicated video card or a beefy integrated one.

Spellcaster University is not a forever game but it’ll be fun for a while.

Cook Serve Delicious series is really good. You can start with 1, they are each a bit different.

Cross Code if you want an RPG. Citizen Sleeper or Road Warden if you want an RPG that’s borderline a visual novel. Slay the Princess if you straight up want a visual novel.

Library of Ruina and Lobotomy Corporation if you’re a masochist who likes a good story.

Then there’s eternal classics like Stardew Valley, Balatro, Terraria,FTL, Into the Breach, Slay the Spire or Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

And on the incredibly niche side of things, I recommend Intergalactic Fishing and Rings of Saturn.

Hopefully something from this list catches your fancy!

Great list! I will add Wildfrost and LONESTAR on the roguelite, “there’s gotta be a way to survive this turn, if only I could figure it out” side. Wildfrost is at the historical low, LONESTAR is not quite but close.

Hell yeah! Thank you so much.

Then there’s eternal classics like Stardew Valley, Balatro, Terraria,FTL, Into the Breach, Slay the Spire or Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Did you check my installed games? Sure, I’ve replaced FTL with Void War (same game tbh) and play Slay the Spire on my phone (and laptop via screen mirroring) but that list is ~80% of what I’m looking to move on from!

I’ve found success with static backgrounds and turn-based games. I have made due with 1600x90 at 50% texture rendering for CK3 but that’s different. I’m not sure if they’re on sale but for the sake of listing more laptop friendly games: Across the Obelisk, For the King, Tales of Maj’eyal, Loop Hero and Project Zomboid do well.

Minecraft and Rimworld depends on modlist. I tried to downsize my 150-odd Rimworld mods and ended up with 200, c’est la vie.

Will investigate you list tonight and keep you posted!

It’s only 30% off, but Esports Godfather should run on any remotely recent laptop and is great fun. I didn’t feel bad about paying full price for it, played over a hundred hours all told since release. Not quite a simulator/colony manager but it’s a deckbuilder/manager so close enough?

OP, if you have a VR setup, Pistol Whip is absolutely worth it if you like games like beat saber. Even without trying to shoot on beat, it’s a blast. There are a bunch of songs that are one offs, and there are two campaigns (or there were last time I played, there might be more). The devs are awesome, the guns are fun, and it’s a hell of a workout.

I think Halo the MCC is 75% off for the first time, so I got that and Mortician’s Tale. Sons of the Forest also seems to be at its highest discount for the first time, so I might get that.
