Hi, As my workplace only offers Samsung or Iphone, I am getting a new one after new years. Here I am wondering what to do with my old one. I wanna play around with Linux phone os, but it just seems like the different OS’ doesn’t work great with different hardware (or not at all).
I was wondering if someone in here might be able to guide me in the right direction. Thank you.
Kind regards Buller
I don’t think any mobile Linux distro has been ported to that particular phone so far. I just did a quick check of all the major options (postmarket, Ubuntu Touch, sailfish community ports, droidian) and none of these list your device.
Dammit
I don’t think that it is realistic to ever run a Linux distribution on one of the newer Galaxy S-series phones. It’s even very difficult to find working custom Android ROMs for them. If you want FOSS then an Android GSI or a build from the XDA Forums is your best bet, but (mainline) Linux is out of the question.
You can’t get past the Qualcomm locked bootloader I don’t think.
