I’m back on that Blue Prince bullshit. I’m far enough in that I’m decoding whole letters written in a conlang and doing really frustrating math ciphers. I get the sense that I might be out of fun puzzles and should probably call it good.
Maybe I’ll buy Silksong already.

Yeah Outer Worlds was pretty good. The space ship was really cool looking and I liked exploring that black hole planet. The DLC changed up the puzzle solving in a cool way that I really appreciated too.
One time I was at a big swing dance festival (8 hours of classes followed by nightly dances. It was intense!) and some guy once literally tried to get between me and a dance partner because he didn’t understand that I was there to learn lead.
Yeah dance being so gendered is hard. I used to do a lot of swing dance, and learned to lead so that I could dance with this lady I had a crush on, but everyone just assumed I was a follow and pairing up was awkward. Eventually learned to follow just to make things easier for everyone. Being ambidancetrous is pretty cool too.
The dancing scene is very horny, yes.
I’m on injections and have plenty of that, but I like the reassurance of taking an antiandrogen/anti-dht drug on top.

Silksong looks pretty cool but I never beat Hollow Knight so I’m playing it now.
Another weekend playing Blue Prince.
It’s really fun not knowing how deep this game goes. Every time I solve a mystery I end up with two more, and my handwritten journal is turning into some mad scrawling necronomicon shit. I spend time away thinking about these puzzles. I bring my journal to work so I can overanalyze the in-game books I’ve copied down, illustrations and all. I think some of these puzzles I’ve created solutions for, might not actually exist.
Game is hard (the fuck you mean I gotta use math?), but also hits that rare itch I’ve had since beating Outer Wilds, where I figure out a puzzle or two and it ends up completely recontextualizing the game and making me want to go back and look everything over again.
That fucking boiler room - lab connection! The hardest part of this game is when you think you figured out a puzzle but just need things to line up just right so you can test your theory.
As for tips, start a physical journal if you haven’t yet. Take tons of notes. Draw pictures. Copy whole books if you need to. The lore matters so learn it. Don’t be afraid of time limits in reaching the end, just keep making progress and taking good notes to review later.
Magnifying glass is one of the coolest items.

I started playing Blue Prince. It’s a puzzle game where you have inherited your uncle’s 45-room mansion, but only if you can find the 46th room in it. And every day, the layout changes.
At the start it’s kinda like a map building roguelike where you pick which room is behind each door from a few choices, and try to gather resources and explore further, but that’s barely scratching the surface.
This puzzle goes so deep. I have a journal full of clues, in-game books that I have copied in hopes that there are more clues, pages with in-depth descriptions of every room, family trees, weird interactions that I haven’t fully figured out yet… There’s all sorts of lore about this fictional world that I have been writing down just in case. I don’t even know how deep this mystery goes, but I hope to be well-armed when I finally do.
It’s the first game that’s scratched the same itch that Outer Wilds does, where you occasionally discover something that forces you to reevaluate everything you saw before, but it’s much harder. Also the in-game notekeeping is incredibly limited so you really need to keep your own journal to play.
The graphics are old but the gameplay is still solid and the story is fantastic.
I’ve been obsessively playing Kerbal Space Program. I can now consistently get into orbit, usually make it to Mun, and I’ve touched down on Minmus a couple times. The weird tilted orbit keeps throwing me off though and I’m unsure about maneuvers that aren’t just going prograde or retrograde at auspicious times.
I also made my first LKO science satellite and I’m working on getting radar dishes onto Mun and Minmus, though I’m not yet sure why. Most of my contracts are complicated and scary now so I just take the tourist ones to fund my experiments.
I spent most of my weekend playing Kerbal Space Program. I’m still very bad at it, but I can now consistently get into orbit, and sometimes land on Mun. Next step is to try and land a science team on Mun and have enough gas to get them back home.
I also got Blue Prince at a friend’s recommendation, but haven’t had a chance to play it yet.
Last set I’ll have any interest in until we return to Lorwyn. Spiderman and Avatar ain’t doing it for me, but humanoid Kavu?
I didn’t expect the space set to be so cool. Gonna try and hit up the prerelease tonight if my lgs still has space.
I also really love this art treatment they did for some of the legends.
Trans athlete ban just hit USA Fencing. Leadership didn’t want it, membership didn’t want it, but the executive order threatened their NGB status.
Shit sucks. The chairman gave a good shot at defending us at the doge show trial, but idk what could be done here. If they didn’t comply, we might end up with a governing body that actually hates trans people, rather than one that tried but failed to include us.
I spent the weekend playing Crusader Kings 2 with the After the End mod. It’s ck2 but set in post apocalyptic America.
I’ve now conquered most of the Empire of Cascadia. My first character found a pre-apocalyptic handgun so I’ve just had a lineage of queens challenging opponents to duels, only to just Indiana Jones them and take their land.
