Europe@feddit.org•At last, reasons to be cheerful about European techEnglish
23·16 小时前I don’t get what you’re aiming for here. The link can remove a paywall for those who want, if you don’t then don’t use it?
It’s not useless, it does what it says on the tin.

51·21 小时前The paywall link is there if you want to use it.
Getting a subscription to the economist is also an option.

1·2 天前Not a matrix user but from what I understand you just need to be on a matrix server, not the kde one. So just sign up to one and go talk to the kde guys.

Europe@feddit.org•EU fails to pass new sanctions targeting Russia after Hungary objectsEnglish
5·7 天前Democracy I think. They’re having an election soon. Also put rules in place for all EU members on how to safeguard democracy, which has been happening for some time.
I still have hope for Hungary.

Europe@feddit.org•EU fails to pass new sanctions targeting Russia after Hungary objectsEnglish
7·7 天前I mean it both is and isn’t. It does help small countries from being steamrolled by the bigger ones, so it was easier to get countries to join knowing that they would not be overruled by Germany, France and Britain. The assumption was that you would have rational actors in place that wanted to do good for their people. It’s been working well, mostly.
But also yeah, it’s frustrating to see one or two bad actors mess things up.
Individual countries can still act though, it just won’t be an EU coordinated thing.
Edit: Damn autocorrect.
That’s already happening. 🤬
Look up supertrawlers.

Europe@feddit.org•Hungary says it will block a key EU loan to Ukraine until Russian oil shipments resumeEnglish
2·9 天前Still need to negotiate and sign deals. It’s not a quick process and some counties might want to change some things.
All in all it’ll be very complicated and messy. Not really realistic tbh, but a fun thought experiment.

Europe@feddit.org•Hungary says it will block a key EU loan to Ukraine until Russian oil shipments resumeEnglish
2·9 天前Starting a new EU isn’t really feasible either since it’ll be the “old” EU who holds all the trade-deals and other agreements/contracts.

20·11 天前Not sure they do have a shut off, but modern weapon systems are so complex that they don’t have to have that. Just stop supporting them with updates, material and support and most will be useless in a very short time.

Europe@feddit.org•The economic cost of Brexit has just been laid bare – and it’s devastatingEnglish
32·12 天前Yeah, if its the only option then it’s bad, but the convenience isn’t too be underestimated. I rented when I was in Uni, didn’t even consider buying at that point. Didn’t want to commit that much money to a city i didn’t know if I wanted to live in.

312·12 天前Why are landlords so hated? Renting isn’t always a bad option.

Then you post the articles and a way to read them before I do and all is resolved.
Thanks.
