  • I was listening to… CBC front burner podcast I think? And they mentioned that he has shifted his position on immigrants. He was quoted in the past saying any immigrant who graduated post secondary in the US should have a green card attached to the diploma.

Then some right wing nutjobs were mad about that and we’re targetting his events and harrassing him until he fell in line.

So yeah. He will change his mind, if he is bullies enough.

Also I think the group that were harassing his events was Nick Fuentas (spelling?) and now some of the coverage is indicating the shooter might have been a follower of Nick? I’m not sure how confirmed that is so do your own research.

But if it’s just right wing nutjobs killing slightly less to the right right wing nutjobs… Idk man.

  • I didn’t disagree with your “allocation” nor did I accuse you of antisemitism nor did I “connect Israel with all Jews”, perhaps your reading comprehension is worse than you would like to think. Explaining subtext as to why something would be perceived as a thing doesn’t make you that thing.

Let me put it this way: is it antisemitic to forget that the Jewish victim exists when discussing Nazis stealing art ? If not, does it SEEM like antisemitism if YOU then start talking about taking that money/painting that was stolen and rightfully belongs to some Jewish family somewhere, and giving it to Palestine?

    Your comment made the connection.

  • The funds, or painting itself, should be returned to the families it was stolen from. That family was very likely Jewish. So you saying “give it to Palestine!” implies taking from Jewish people, which would be unfair, but in this context also implies they “owe” it because Israel is to blame, and Jews=Israel.

I do see your connection now that you have explained it though, I wonder if maybe you just stumbled and missed the very negative subtext within your suggestion.

  • Well now you are armed with that info for next time. I too have trouble standing up to misinformation. It’s a problem where I won’t just spout things I haven’t verified and can source, no matter how true I THINK it is. It’s baffling how others can just howl into the nothing about things they heard somewhere and are positive it’s true.

Last time I was sure of a point during one of those sorts of discussions it was amazing to see the deflation in the room. “What do you mean?”

I mean you guys are idiots, here’s where you can verify that. I didn’t say that because neither of them seem that far gone, they are the helpful idiots. And suddenly the whining about being a victim of a non existent problem quieted down.

  • Weak personal attack.

Use your brain. You are advocating to make roads into obstacle courses in order to slow everyone down. By definition you are making that road a skill issue for half the population, assuming you build the road to the “average” drivers ability at the speed needed. Which also means half the population is gonna be capable of going faster than that, which it seems you would then believe they are just gonna speed anyways?

Why do that? What if instead there was a simple, effective, low cost way to communicate a “limit”? That way we could just put a sign up. And if things change, or we start seeing somewhere were that “limit” we have set is to slow or fast, we can just change the sign instead of redesigning the neighbourhood. We of course would have to create a system of enforcement…

  • My dad’s and I both occasional partake in a specific ritual that goes as follows:

    1. Crack open an ice cold Coke Zero (also works with coke. And probably other colas).

Take a few sips while you either pull fresh from the garden or out of the fridge:

    1. Radishes

Wash them up. You can slice, quarter or leave whole.

    Get snacking.

Enjoy your fresh, slightly spicy (or really spicy depending!) radishes with your cold bubbly coke.

    1. Wait.

    2. Burp

    3. Transcend this mortal plane, bask in the glory of the radish and coke burps that follow.

  • And why should I, someone who can read and respects speed limits the majority of the time, have to suffer narrow garbage roads? Why can’t we treat people like adults? It’s bonkers the arguments I see whenever there is an article about speed cameras.

Obey the speed limit. The end. Nothing else has to change in society. I know it’s a big ask for all the grown ass humans who apparently never matured, but I’m sick of this stupidity.

Sincerely: someone who got a mailed speeding ticket for $50 2 days ago for going 50km in a 40km zone. Did I tear up and stomp my feet like a 3 year old? No! My adult brain stepped in and I went “ah shit, I’ll have to pay more attention next time I’m in that area.”
