What I don’t understand is that the post must be up inmediatly or else some people will miss the conversation. Why? People can still comment on it after having read it and it being posted hours later doesn’t make people not want to talk about it.

I really like this idea, even if it’s not a rule it should be common to post a comment with your chapter discussion post so that it can show someone is willing to have a conversation.
I try to post a discussion post every day but I don’t want that to feel like spam so I don’t want to do more myself, but I do try to comment on every single non chapter post I see
Thank you very much for looking into it! Hope it works out well.
Edit: damn I just noticed I make some walls of text, so: TLDR: I prefer no bot posts, but I understand why they are there.
I would like for it not to be bots doing these posts, I dont really like seeing so many posts with 0 comments.
The best solution would be to make it so that people posts the chapters so that it guarantees there will always be interactions and at least a comment by the poster. But as @OtakuAltair@vlemmy.net says, people probably wont be bothered to make such posts and that is probably true so its a big point against the idea of complete removal. (Although I dont really see a reason to worry too much about format and timing, its not like there is rules on the matter for the first and for timing if people already read it they can still talk about it)
The second best solution IMO is keep the bot, but if possible restrict it to what people are actually reading weekly, so that there will always be at least a comment. I just dont think the size of this community allows to have this kinds of posts allows for having lots of posts.
I dont really like the idea of expanding it even more, most people arent reading more than a few series weekly and with the number of users participating daily here (about 25) there is no way we can sustain that, it will just fill the feed with content that no one pays attention to. Of course one can simply say we dont need interactions on each post, just the opportunity is enough and if it doesnt happen there then its not a big deal. But at least to me it gives ghost town vibes, it doesnt feel good to look at the sub and see how nobody interacts. If anything I would prefer that we increase the user made content and diversify a bit from chapter specific discussions which, while cool when people actually have something to say and discuss, dont feel good when nobody is reading.
Be the change you want to see in the world!
Also sub to smaller and more contrnt specific instances? Personally I have been having fun interacting with communities from my hobbies (most specifically manga) and at the end of the day that’s what matters most.
I also vote yes, it is better to not be needlessly stringent with this stuff as to not stiffle dialogue, I feel allowing them would make for far more interesting content and since communities are too small right now we don’t need useless fractioning and divides, people with a similar hobby need a place to talk and let that be here.
Jaja I can’t really go for it myself, I do need for the post to be pinned.
I did do a post about this 3 or 4 days ago, but it became buried quickly, although some people did participate. But it needs to be pinned, it’s one of the most important parts
No no, socialims is when I have two cows and the government eats one of them (or something like that, I didn’t advance much in my theory)
Did it do something?
Not saying you are wrong, since it is currently imposible to do here, but I don’t think the federated nature of usernames has anything yo do with if they receive a notification or bot since over at mastodon you can tag people properly and they are notified.
I might be misunderstanding something, but you are talking about a tag (same as a private note over mastodon or a profile note in discord)
At least it looks that way because of this
Add the ability to tag users, so a title i give him will be next to his name.
What this user is asking is if you can write someone’s name on a post and for that petson to receive a notification that they have been mentioned.
Jaja same, I treat it as a blog for my own posts, but I do only one per week. But I do read it constantly to have conversations that don’t merit their own posts or to find recommendations.
Yeah not sure about the possibility of automation, if it needs to be manual I would volunteer to make the post, but there is still a need for a mod to pin it so it’s pretty much useless if it doesn’t come from them.
I had never thought about tsukkomi as laugh tracks but damn does that analogy fit them perfectly. I used to hate it as it felt cheap but some point along the way D-frag just got to me and I find it so funny nowadays.
I definitely agree with your assessment of good comedies, I love Grand Blue, especially the art style I feel is one of the best in the medium. Especially the over exaggeration to land a punchline, its kind of the inverse of when they dumb down characters into moe that they used to do so much in the 2010s and Im son into it. Also, Hinamatsuri is peak comedy, really loved the ridiculousness of Mishima side stories.
Had never heard of Chio-chan, added it to my read list, lowkey the plot sounds like Murphy’s Law.
Also as a side note, oh boy do I have so much to recommend if you like misunderstanding based comedy in manga, its probably one of my favorite genres!
Jajaja I thought about that while typing it out but I still dont believe this is about EEE, Meta hasnt operated with that mindset yet in other spaces from what I know and I feel this is more that a kneejerk reaction of people not liking big corporations associating it with the idea that big corps want to kill the freedom that these spaces bring to online communities.
But I believe in the design of the fediverse and the resilience of the people, I dont think that a few platforms hoarding the big majority threaten the entirety of the fediverse, as long as people can self host their own instances since we can ensure there will always be spaces for communities like this, even in worse case scenarios like Meta just having so many features that other platforms cant compete in those terms I still feel a niche of the same people that are building this today are going to stick with it, and thus we can keep this going even if we are forced to defederate at a later date or they defederate us.
Less than a dollar for each volume? That’s insane, I would certainly have thought it was a scam
Embrace, extend and extinguish.
It was a more common tactic back in the day for tech giants to destroy competition omfor open software specifically.

I am personally guessing it’s this option, people keep saying the idea is to EEE but I don’t think this would be the most effective use of Meta resources since they should be focusing yheir efforts at beating twitter.
Damn that second to last panel, and now to wait another month for the chance to see any kind of development on that front :(
