I honestly prefer Lemmy over Mastodon. My experience with Mastodon has been one of screaming into the void with very little actual engagement with anyone. Also, it just seems like everyone is trying to sell their product or advertise their blog. It probably depends on which tags one chooses to follow, but I grew tired of it very quickly. I haven’t had the same experience with Lemmy for whatever reason, which is why I prefer it.
As has been mentioned before - Howard Zinn. His ‘A People’s History of the United States’ is jaw-dropping. This book literally changed my life.
Right, so leaving jobs off your resume is probably not a good idea. Year-long gaps in your employment history will get you passed on, as well.
So if you’re keeping off any jobs that you’ve worked at for less than 2 years, does that mean you lie about dates to cover up the gaps?
Religion isn’t the only arena that has charlatans, manipulators and con artists.
Which, if the retailer has any kind of a brain, will be followed by a polite request for a demonstration of how you were using said tool when it broke. They know what to watch for to identify scammers, trust me.
I believe a fair and reasonable restocking fee is absolutely justified when customers try to game the system. Having worked in several retail establishments over the years, I can tell you that this sort of behavior is rampant and I’ve seen lots of really shady shit from people, including:
People are opportunists. If there are no controls in place to keep some people from doing shitty things, some people will do shitty things.
If there are no STI’s involved, I fail to see how it’s anyone else’s business. Unless your partner decides to willingly divulge this info, of course.
I meant the type of event where nudity is present and expected.
There is always a social media propaganda campaign going on. On just about any subject you can think of. Is this really the first time you’re noticing? You do know that governments, political parties and corporations employ people whose only job is to study and manipulate social media trends, right? What do you think a social media ‘influencer’ is?
People with a highly metaphysical worldview are easier to deceive and manipulate because their normal logic barriers have already been broken down - ie, if you already believe that the earth and everything on it was created by an omnipotent superbeing in six days, it’s not much of a further leap to believe that demons are making you horny.
Sure, at some point we all have to realize that our actions may attract unwanted attention and take appropriate precautions. That being said, no means no. If a lady is obviously uncomfortable by your presence, put on the big boy pants and move on - don’t try to argue your case or convince her of anything. Just move on and leave her the hell alone.
I’ve been to a few ‘clothing optional’ events in my time - and this is how I have successfully navigated those events:
Is this stupid and unfair? Yes. Have I ever been asked to leave one of these events, or gotten into any trouble? No. If you can’t handle it, don’t go to these types of events.
Stories are medicine.
It’s one healthy way for our brains to process situations, dreams, aspirations, fears and experience. And it works.
I don’t think you’ll have any trouble with Mint. I’ve set up senior citizens with Mint desktops and have yet to have any major issues. Contrary to what many people think, a solid Linux distro like Mint really isn’t all that hard for a newbie to wrap their head around.
I’ve been using Linux Mint for the last…eight years? I think? Anyway, it’s been great for gaming and if you want a minimum of fussing about, I would just install Steam and use Proton for compatibility. It’s by far the easiest and most tinker-free gaming experience for Linux - at least in my experience. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had to really research and tinker with any annoying issues. protondb.com has been extremely helpful in checking the compatibility of a certain game for Linux and even offers tips and tricks to make the fussier games work.
Heheh…a very wise man once told me that ‘every truth begins as a heresy’. In the 30+ years since I was told this, I have found it to be completely accurate. :)
