Wow… I don’t know what to say about this @#*!$ disease, but at least we have each other to tell our tales, no?
Oh god, yeah.
One of the worst things ever was being ultimately convinced by my friends & family that I was ‘just a bit lazy and just a bit crazy’ and all that… convinced to redouble my efforts to ‘break on through to the other side.’ Which I sincerely tried, with every bit of my being.
Holy hell, and I would sometimes subsequently slip in to *severe*-mode for a while, which was absolute terrifying. Like, I could barely even make my way to the bathroom to attend to my duties, and all that.
So I learned that, sadly, I could never trust other people to actually comprehend what I was going through. That I was all alone, completely, and somehow I would have to work things out and survive, with egg on my face over-and-over again.

And unfortunately, it seems those kinds of typical doctors are simply following their training, inclining them to believe they’re dealing with the issue responsibly, generally spurring them to look at other causes.
Bonus pts for being deep-fried!
Also, like the fortune cookie, chop suey, crab rangoon and others, a dish invented in the States.
Which still suggests some patterns, mais non?
Wow, that’s impressively egalitarian in terms of destination, altho I seem to see some notable exceptions, such as Southern Italy, Greece, Ireland, Slovakia and Romania.
Could those lesser-traveled places perhaps be down to the two cultures tending not to be a great match?
Answering the real questions!
Which is a big part of why I said “it’s the Dutch.”
I don’t know anything about this being an ‘infrastructure canary,’ however. TBH, I’d tend to hope that they don’t assign nearly the specialised resources to this project as they do far more critical works. Because this is mostly just a fun little project, right…?
Seems ever-so-slightly concerning that the mechanisms for preventing the bridge from overflowing are based solely on dams and pumps working. I.e., as opposed to building the bridge to float as necessary. Seems like that would be more versatile and lower-maintenance. *shrug* Then again: 1) it’s the Dutch, and 2) it’s only a man-made moat/lake, so what’s the worst that could happen?
Another, more relevant rabbit hole I’m skirting at the moment is reading about how Holland deals with the potential of mosquito populations, which seems like it could be vast for a country like that.
I recently subbed to CasualEurope, myself. Some others I’ve been enjoying, lately: (sorry, my link formatting sucks)
Unfortunately, when Lemm.ee went down early, I failed to preserve my 2-year list of subscriptions from that acct. So I’ve got a boatload of work to do trying to repopulate that list. :S
Well, dang!
A lot of the old Popeye hasn’t aged too well for me, often being on the repetitive and dull side, but this sequence is hilarious, sharp, and has aged really well IMO. So… we’re looking at a date of… Dec 19th, 1937, is it?
I don’t understand. This is specifically an AI community, yet people are downvoting this post for some reason. Why?
I could understand if this AI art was posted to just about any other /c, for example “funny animal pics,” or such, but this is a place created specifically for this sort of thing, no?
Not to mention, I do find the image hilarious. XD
But we are animals who can recognize and control whatever urges we have.
–> insert bark-like, high-pitched PeeWee Herman laugh! <–
Anyway, I think I lean in your general direction on this, but I’m open to the idea that it might help someone, somewhere. At least, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this type of /c before.
Ah, thanks. I get it now.
For anyone curious:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule,_Britannia!
I have no idea what you’re talking about, but I can understand Spanish & French if that helps you out.
Sounds like the name of a researcher with a French last name, who, likely being a scientist, would have conducted their research under routinely strict (i.e. not liberal) controls.
What is the “Britons Never Never” bit about…?
If you grew up in the States, you would have learned who Franklin was somewhere in the 5th to 8th grade public schooling range, so I guess neither of those things happened in your case?
It’s hard to understand exactly what your points are with such a brief, dismissive reply, but FWIW I made some critiques here and I thought the mod answered rather well.
