At least it stays in the EU in that case
Uch, was already willing to get rid of my garmin but this just gives me more motivation
I’ve made my Xing account but still need to fill it in like my linkedin. Currently LinkedIn still gets me recruiters weekly so no way am I leaving it for now, not that I’m actively applying but I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot.
I could survive 72 hours on the food I have at home at any time, it won’t be grand tho and I’ll still need electricity to make most of it.
Once I move I’m planning on having a small stockpile (cause I’ll finally have space for it) to last about 2 weeks or so, worst case I just need to eat it and restock it later and best case it saves me a lot of hassle in a crisis.
To start off: Especially when you’re openly drunk at 3am and unable to act normal 😂
You need to be able to identify yourself to law enforcement (and some others like ticket inspectors on trains) when stopped (for a valid reason ofc), I’d say that makes sense? We don’t have a distrust of our (law) enforcement like there is in the US, they’re held to a high standard here.
In a lot of instances they also need a copy of your ID at the bank, your work, etc. This is mostly to prevent identity fraud as far as I’m aware.
More info: NL: https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/identificatieplicht / BE: https://www.watwat.be/politie/wie-mag-mijn-identiteitskaart-vragen
It’s literally just a card (almost) everybody keeps on them together with their bank card. In the future we’ll most likely just be able to use digID (in NL) or Itsme (Belgium) as a substitute to identify ourselves.
If you get stopped and don’t have it with you the first time you’ll just get a warning and they’ll just look you up by name instead, after that they fine you for not having it with you. If you do not identify yourself they can take you to the police station until they can identify you, you know the only people who have an issue identifying themselves usually? Drunks and people who either have a history / current issue with police. (You often see this in the videos of our favorite police vlogger: https://www.youtube.com/@PolitieVloggerJanWillem)
I’ll add on to this before you still call it dystopian, for every single time a police officer asks for an ID they have to note that down, its logged that they looked this person up, they have to write why they did it (reminder: every single time) and this can get checked by a superior officer/other instance (depends on country I believe) + anyone who was checked can dispute the check afterwards. They’re very harsh on abuse of the access police have and everything they do for their work is logged systemtically and also by the officers in question (source: I worked for Belgian police IT). Here’s an example of when an officer looked up people he could not justify: https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20240215_94848864
That’s so weird. I don’t get why they 1. Don’t require people to have valid ID on them and 2. That there’s ID’s that don’t show their status (citizen/whatever).
I am living in the Netherlands but my ID is still Belgian but shows I’m a citizen from there and also an EU citizen. I use this ID + the paper in the mail to show I am required to vote (we still have mandatory voting, but it’d work the same if it wasn’t mandatory).
Take this fake ID as an example:
It shows both our “social security number” (Belgian sepecific) and the document number (required for use within Europe)
The back also has a chip that can be read and a qr code
I always have this with my soup, the bowl is so hot and the soup is just… cold
Ok so I have to ask coming from Belgium where having an ID on you at all times is mandatory (and living in the Netherlands where having at least a drivers license on you at all times is mandatory since that also has all needed data unlike Belgium). Why is this even remotely a “hard” requirement? Do Americans just not need to carry ID on them?
Outside of the marked stuff it also states a Federal or State government-issued foto id is valid, hence the question.
For me an EU based (degiro) was better cause it can automatically provide tax documents / apply for benefits (like no double tax on US stocks)
Not calling hits. It’s a trust based sport where you have to call when you’re hit, cheaters pretend not to be hit.
Sell their cars to who BEN? Aquaman?
In the end someone will own the car and be f’ed because of it. The seller will take a huge financial loss because other people think it helps to force people to make bad financial decisions while Tesla already has the money.
It really just depends on how users have to choose a service and how much it matters. With email the service used doesn’t really matter so most either use what is given to them (here that’s often from their ISP) or what is recomended to them (e.g. Gmail or Hotmail here in the EU)
As far as I’m aware the company behind degiro is actually called “flatexdegiro” so not sure if they’re related
Currently got most of my EU ETF in Amundi and planning on selling the rest of my iShares EU 600’s later this year to put it in Xtrackers (first got some other financial stuff to focus on to see that my tax bill doesn’t go boom)
Been using Degiro for a while. Outside of 1 year them not correctly filing taxes automatically resulting in me having to do it manually its been a great service!
I literally cannot for the life of me make a normal amount of pasta
I use store brand! Local and cheaper, quality wise the conditioner works better on my hair (2 euros for 500ml vs 7 euros for like 350ml) and for shampoo its just cheaper for the same effect
I’m currently still using my stash of australian HiSmile, don’t really have an EU alternative for this and I never want to go back to minty toothpaste
My main reason for wanting to get rid of it is indeed #BuyFromEU based, but tbh I’m also still using my google pixel (looking to install Graphene once I bought my appartement, don’t want to risk issues with my bank app right now)
Probably getting a withings watch soon™
