Where?
In the angles of the broken, burt-out timbers. Compare to Max Ernst’s " The Triumph of Surrealism ".
the building on the right was meant to symbolize a British building during the Blitz period
That’s very interesting, thanks. I’m surprised Blume assigned such straightforward symbolism to the various parts of the painting, usually something this surreal leaves a fair amount open to interpretation.

That’s cool, we need more OC memes. Lookin forward to what you got.

Capitalism, Communism, and Fascism, right? I love how he sneaked swastikas into the building on the right. The guy carving in the foreground is a hammer-and-sickle?
that site is odd… looks like we have to go to https://lemmyverse.net/ and THEN click “communities”…
Yeah, feeds are neat bc they’re user-curated, they’re easy to copy, and you can easily tell which communities are active.
Your proximetry metrics is a good idea too, I bet it would work best in a tool like the Lemmy Explorer: https://lemmyverse.net/communities
Here’s my approach: over the holidays I suggested lemmy to 3 people I know. I did so by emailing or texting them links to the following piefed feeds of lemmy communities:
The first is non-political, non-tech, low-meme communities (tho sometimes those topics sneak in.) The second is non-political, non-tech meme/humor communities. One peson said they thought it was neat, the other said they bookmarked it, the third didn’t say anything. Dunno if they joined.

Yeah, a good coach will work with you to identify the strengths that your specific body-type provides, and train you to that.

After you create the communities, take a look at !fedigrow@lemmy.zip for ideas and help on how to “grow” them. Especially there’s a weekly thread that you might find helpful.

Clausewitz, On War, bc I’m interested in military history. I have a bunch of books in storage, and it’s the only one I really miss. The Howard/Paret translation is the best. Handel’s “Masters of War” has a great explication (besides the one that Howard/Paret provide.)

hey, if you want a feed of lemmy communities that aren’t focused on memes, politics, or tech, look at this: https://piefed.social/f/highsignal

Memes are very low-effort
Funny you should say that, I’ve spent like 4-5 hours revising a kinda niche vampires meme for posting soon. But yeah, most memes are a lot lower effort.
“Yeah, that’s what happens when you fail out of med school.”
Hey, flower, you should have requested “actionable intelligence”.
“If you want, I’ll hold your money for you!”
They’re just admitting they believe noone really try to do the right thing for the right reasons. You know, like, these are the conventions we set so living in a society can even work.
Worse, it suggests they have no empathy.
I woulda guessed it was slop, even with the “83” date on it. However it’s the cover of an old fantasy novel: https://www.amazon.com/Players-Gor-Tarl-Cabot-Saga/dp/0352315024

I’m just surprised of the ratio between the rather large number of subscribers and noticeably smaller number of active contributors.
There’s a saying that I’m trying to remember: something like, for every 1 poster/commenter, there are 9 people who only upvote/downvote, and another 99 who read but only lurk. It makes sense. I usually post or comment SOMEWHERE at least once a day, but there’s a lot more stuff that I read but don’t interact with. It would be exhausting to comment on everything I read. It also makes sense that there are people who just want to consume but don’t feel they have anything to say anywhere.
Maybe it’s a mistake to separate them,
I get it… it makes sense to have a non-mod acccount so you can be like: “I am not speaking in my capacity as admin when I say…”
Fwiw whenever I tell my friends about us, I point them to my feeds of lemmy communities with less politics and tech:
