  • Thank you, that’s a good perspective on the topic. I guess that’s why I had such mixed feelings, as these two conflicting views battle in my head. The emotional idealist side of my head wants children to grow up not having to think about these things, but at the same time, growing up not thinking about or being exposed to these things, as we can with most people in western countries, often leads to adults who continue to ignore these realities or otherwise are ill coped to deal with them.

When I talk to young people who grew up in war they take pride in their identity, if they are not so traumatised that they prefer to forget everything.

I guess this is the distinction I need to make. I don’t want children to be traumatized, abused, hurt, or killed. That’s what I have a problem with. When I look back at that image, that girl does not look traumatized. She looks hopeful, inspired, proud like you said. I guess that’s the important distinction to make for myself, and to not conflate the two. It’s hard for me to accept, but what you say is very true.

  • I think there is a lot of confusion and overreaction here to the term “democracy”. I believe what Dragon was meaning is western “liberal democracy”. I don’t think any of us here want to continue to live in a “liberal democracy”. Western countries have diluted the meaning. I think to most people, “democracy” means “liberal democracy” which we all critique. Dragon did not say they wanted an authoritarian fascist bourgeois dictatorship or whatever everyone seems to be making of this. They seem to want a system where the rights of minorities are protected over the desires of a reactionary population. We know in the imperial core, a significant portion of the population will need to be reeducated before they can participate in a dictatorship of the proletariat. A revolution is inherently “authoritarian”. We need to take our rights back from the bourgeoisie and the reactionaries. At some point, these rights will need to be enforced by some revolutionary entity, before the reactionaries have a say in it. They can join the dictatorship of the proletariat once their brainworms have been sufficiently nullified. If you handed them a true democracy, right now as things are, they would use that democracy to choose barbarism. I do not want a system where some majority can decide to remove the rights of some minority group simply because the majority is bigoted. Democracy without a socialist revolution is just a popularity contest.

  • This image gives me such mixed feelings, both of hope and deep sadness, that I can’t put adequately into words. It’s somewhat inspiring that a young generation see hope and desire to fight for a better future. But at the same time, this picture should never exist. To see a little girl, wearing a bright blue shirt with Minnie Mouse and covered in little hearts, holding a (fake) kitted out MP5(?) with a rail mount and suppressor, it kinda breaks something in my brain. This little girl should be playing outside with her friends, or watching cartoons or doing home work for school. Her main life concerns right now should be like, someone at school said something mean to her, or hoping to get a good grade on a difficult school subject, not protesting in support of a paramilitary group to fight off an invading genocidal army attempting to bomb and kill your entire country. Even the children that aren’t blown up in school, even in the best case scenario, we rob them of their childhood. And for what? Western civilization hates children.

  • In regards to the meme picture:

I was initially excited by the arrival of a Japanese Kelly kelly and was curious to see more of their work, but I should give a CONTENT WARNING for anyone else curious to view their feed as well. Lots of mentions as well as photos of self harm, blood. Suicidal ideation and intent. Internalized transphobia leading to a bit of misogyny and general horny posting.

I feel bad for this person, they are very clearly a very lonely, traumatized trans person with seemingly no support or community, who desperately needs help. They draw some entertaining leftist memes, if they had the right help I could potentially see them even fitting into Hexbear, and benefiting from the sense of community and trans support channels. But the trauma seems to go pretty deep and they need more serious help than that, and I do not feel qualified to navigate that situation to try and help them.

  • I think you are correct in that the article does not explicitly state that they got pregnant from ICE officers or while in detention, and that OP is making that connection based in assumption and prior evidence that may or may not support that conclusion, even if it is a reasonable assumption to make. But I would say that “in transit” could mean during their migration, it could also mean “in transit” as in it happening between their arrest and the transfer to this facility, which would implicate ICE agents in that case. So it’s hard to draw clear conclusions, the language still leaves room for OPs interpretation to be true in some of these cases.
