I likewise played a TON of Mono U Flash when that deck was relevant and loved every minute of it. Also will be trying hard to make it work with similar reservations sadly. I just love that tempo style in a single color.

Wow this feels like a pretty significant color pie break. I realize they’ve printed black enchantment removal a few times before (Feed the Swarm) but this is an instant and seems like they’re just shifting to giving this to black now. Seems like kind of a shame to me.

Best Explore art to date, perhaps second only to the Hildebrandts’ LotR commander art. This is saying something too bc the original Avon art is already amazing.

This seems fun as a big mana payoff maybe but it just doesn’t seem efficient or reliable enough for most of the game.

It’s a 2 mana draw 1, at cmc 3 it’s probably a Divination, and 4 probably also just a draw 2. Sorcery speed.

It’s then a minimum of 5 cmc to cast the spell for free, and you have to go 4/4 on card types which seems incredibly unlikely. More likely you’d get 2-3 card types so this thing seems at best a 5 mana sorcery speed draw 3 then.

Never truly a dead draw which is nice and the more you can pump into this the more it reads as a draw 4 + cast a spell for free. It just doesn’t feel good enough most of the time.

I might be reading it wrong but I think the first one enters with one +1/+1 counter b/c Gev’s ability targets an opponent (not each opponent). The second one would be 2 counters assuming you hit a different opponent, etc.

Love that imagery. It’s any tokens too, so two… foods or treasures driving a car somehow.

Wow most of these cards seem super cute to me and I’m really glad for it, it’s a breath of fresh air and I think a lot of artwork brings back a sense of whimsy that’s been really missing for a long time! I love it too.

Never thought I’d see artwork like this in a Standard set again, this is really nice and reminds me old school artwork.

Holy cow actual nonbasic hate in standard? I love this. Price of Progress is a really strong effect and I’m curious if this makes it into other formats too.

Oh yeah, I’m just being a bit tongue in cheek. I also wish they aligned the art and type a bit better with power and toughness, but with power creep that ship is long gone. This one just seemed particularly hilarious.
