I am a fully blind programming enthusiast, I begun my programming career with bgt, a scripting language.
Now, I know #c, #c#, #rust, #python and probably others, always looking forward to learning new things.
I’m passionate about #linux, #foss, #accessibility, #screenreaders, #technology, also I’m full on with the idea of the #fediverse.
I’m one of the founders of #odilia screenreader, you can find more details in my profile metadata
Also, you can hit me up on #matrix if you want.
@ObviouslyNotBanana @grue it’s much better now than when people were using jack incantations and trying to figure a whole host of stuff out, which in most cases was hardware specific and very esoteric, needless to speak of people chasing lowlatency setups, in so many weird directions that afew people actually came up with kernel patches to apparently make the whole thing have 0 xruns. Yeah, absolutely weird, better that this doesn’t happen anymore hopefully
@Chais do games actually output 5.1 nowadays? Most of those I know use libraries like steamaudio, which simulates it using in-app hrtf, mixing the signal on its own
@n3cr0 ahh, I guess that’s more or less normal hrtf, which any respectable audiogame can replicate
@noodlejetski conduit, the matrix server? that’s definitely weird
@superguy windows or linux?
@ReverseModule @Excrubulent is it only me, or the video has no sound at all?
@Chee_Koala @SleepyWheel ubuntu studio is not a DAW, it’s a music producer focused ubuntu flavour. If you want an open DAW, did you try zrythm?
@Silejonu @Natal @pete_the_cat then, how is it that usb keys and drives work with both windows and linux, once they have been formatted? Is there a different filesystem involved in that case? I, for one, didn’t have issues writing on a USB drive, is that an uncommon scenario?
@XenoStare @ZariZari this doesn’t make us evil, nor does it make valve good, they did it because they didn’t want to pay for windows licenses for all the steam decks they produce, simple as that, we’re collateral benefit. Not using entirely free software isn’t evil. Every moment we accuse one another of not being supporting enough, idealistic enough, etc, gives the monopolies an advantage because we’re squabeling pointlessly. This is what the pollitical left wing should understand as well.
@XenoStare @ZariZari yes, but some convenience is also good. In this case, being able to play windows games, as most of them are released for that platform, on linux without messing a lot with vanilla wine is a godsend. For now, it’s about getting people, game studios, etc, to notice us, even if only through the lense of the steamdeck verified badge. It’s only temporary I hope, but even if not, philosophi aside for a moment, it’s good that we can have more enjoyment than before.
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social is this the compositor handoff protocol? is that implemented by all major compositors already?
@woelkchen @Bilu47 I recommend that thing would be under the gpl, but to each their own
@Tersevs awesome, thanks for the explanation! I wanted something like this for a long while, especially since I usually game in weird places which are far from the computer. Also, I looked on flathub, and both apps are on there, even the server. Why would run the server as a flatpak, I don’t know, but I know it’s there, so yeah, gonna try this now.
@Tersevs can you detail the process a bit? where goes what component?
@Nibodhika @I_Has_A_Hat umm, what does the chinese language have to do with any of this, I wonder?
