Until by the next year rent has universally increased by the UBI.
I’m fully in favor of UBI, but unless we can get a government that will actually crack down on price gouging all it will do is funnel right back to the crooks at the top.

Am I missing something, or does Uranus look almost exactly the same in the Voyager 2 and reprocessed images? The reprocessed one just looks a tiny bit brighter.
To give you a word and framework for what your post, and a lot of the comments here, are describing: intersectionality. Multiple oppressed identities or characteristics compound to be more oppressive than the sum of their parts.
Your struggles are real, and you’re making perfect sense. I’m so sorry you have to deal with all of that, that fucking sucks.
I suspect I have APD (all the hallmark symptoms, including chronic ear infections as a kid), and I do this constantly. I think my “what?” is a sort of defense mechanism not to actually hear the words again but to give my brain more time to process what’s been said. Of course I also often do it because I couldn’t understand, particularly with noisy backgrounds.
My sister thinks she might have it too, and we often describe our experience the same way where it’s like we hear something twice. Once is the physical hearing where our ears collect the sound, and the second is the mental hearing where our brains process the sound. For most people I don’t get the sense these are perceptibly different phenomena. But for us, it’s two distinct steps that are often seconds, in rare cases even minutes apart. “What?” can grant me those seconds to process.
I’d be fine with starting with it, though people seeing prices rise right after will be really disheartening. I’d rather start with actual legislation to punish price gouging. These companies posting record profits while the rest of us struggle more and more is absurd, and I would want to root out that greed first so any UBI can actually help the people at the bottom.
Of course, I don’t expect the American government to do either of these things. Three Republicans will call it the work of Satan or something crazy like that and the Democrats will say they’re all for it until they actually have the means to do it, then suddenly it’ll be too much to handle.
