Indyref was broadly supported by the left but brexit was a right wing project. And indyref was pro-EU, which was reflected a few years later when the same voters who wanted to leave UK voted remain in EU.
The concept of leaving a union of nations has no inherent other political implications.

Sometimes big box thrift stores sell big bags (like medium garbage bags) of towels/scraps real cheap. If you have one to drop in at, they are usually in the section with the sheets and other textiles on the shelf in the middle of the racks.

In the fediverse, its plausible to do this and still be connected to others. There are.lots of single user instances. There were some small businesses opening where you could pay someone else to do the admin work for you if you are disinclined to that kind of geekery yourself.
