Cool, serrated catheters
I was just failing to point out the non sequitur in the OP. You’re 100% right
No! It’s a nonsensical viewpoint, like the OP. I really didn’t think I needed an /s for this.
Yes, Americans voted in a fascist government, but that doesn’t mean that having democratically elected leaders is a primary cause of the problem. Likewise, while it is a real, quantifiable problem that their constitution allows everyone and their emotionally unstable teenaged kids to carry around deadly weapons, the that right being exercised in support of said fascist government does not make it a primary cause thereof.
As you say, the prevalence and influence of social media is more relevant to the US’ current situation, but honestly there are a ton of critical factors and everything is so complicated and oh god I’m getting way too worked up over a stupid showertjoughts post and I just need a drink and a hug. Sorry for ranting.
It’s interesting that voting rights were sold on the basis of instituting democratic government. They seem to have caused and supported fascist government.
Edit: /s
I’m not sure all of those generalisations hold up, but I think it’s safe to say that some people immigrate to a country because they want to live there, and some immigrate because they want the benefits associated with living there.
I don’t think a 5/10 game is necessarily bad, but it needs to have some kind of - I dont know, character? Niche appeal? - to shine for the players who are going to like it.
I’ll throw out Krater as an example. It’s not great, but it has a unique setting, great atmosphere, and some interesting ideas driving it. I kinda love it for its eccentricities in spite of the overall experience being a bit meh.
First thing that came to my mind was Crysis 2. Absolute mid-tier FPS, which was unfortunately pretty disappointing coming off of the first game.
Definitely worth a look if you just want to run around and shoot shit.
I have heard it said that one must slam if one wants to jam
Please be real please be real
“Never attribute to stupidity that which can adequately be explained by selfishness”, or something
/s just in case
Who would win:
Arcade version only, I think. You chose a character and one of three factions, and then fought your eight matches against CPU versions of other players’ chosen characters. The CPU difficulty was based on the performance of the character’s player, and I think there was even some variation in the AI depending on the player’s habits. Likewise, your own character would be in the system for other players to fight.
Anyway, each faction controlled territory on a map based on its players’ overall W/L ratio, and it looked something like the image in the OP.
Anyone else remember Soul Calibur 2 Conquest mode?
If I am in the midst of an interview, I don’t know if I want the job yet. That’s what I’m there to figure out. So I would take this question as an opportunity to outline what I am looking for in a job.
Obviously total compensation is a big part of it, but there are other aspects too. Is the position in-office/remote/hybrid? How flexible are work hours? Is the culture more competitive or collaborative? How is success measured (and rewarded) for this role? How would this job advance my career goals? Lay out what’s important to you and ask questions.
If you’re early in your career, you might not have a handle on what you want yet. That’s okay; it’s totally valid to say that you are still figuring things out and are open to whatever experience the job can provide. If nothing else, you might want to ask about mobility within the company–how often does the company promote from within, or allow people to change roles? Does the company have a reimbursement program for job-related training and education?
Even if you are only looking for a pay cheque, you’d be open to transitioning to a new role for more money, right? So highlight up front that you’re looking for a position at a company where you will have opportunities to grow.
This isn’t really a “boring” dystopia anymore. Can we go back to the boring one please
Re. EV series ports - check the first link in my previous comment ;)
And I had the same experience with Endless Sky when I first found out about it some years ago. It has gotten a lot of updates since then, but I am holding out for a 1.0 release
