Hi I do pixel art and stream and I guess run this site!!
If you don’t use matrix, please ping me on discord (@misnina) or mastodon for quick mod problems. No phone notifs for lemmy avail. yet.

I think the problem is just the massive storage costs of holding lots of video. Youtube is king because anyone can upload whatever, at any amount, but instances of peertube have to monitor their usage closely.
I was uploading to one only for vtubers, and they said they had enough money for 6months or so without dono help, but one month someone attacked or something and just ended up consuming videos at a repeated and huge enough rate that they got a surprise bill that was just too high. They also near the end had to turn off better streaming encoding because it was bandwidth heavy.
why they gotta be sexy. Like, I wish they had some personality, I am 99% sure buttercup would never be happy in that outfit.
Except when the cat was raised with dogs and no other cats. Met many a cat who thought they were a dog. (or dogs who thought they were cats)
I upvoted your post 1/2 way through just for the sheer effort of information. (and did continue reading, I just have nothing of value to add)
you’re not going to fault me for buying a chicken burger are you?
There are TONS of people who will do that exact thing. what is or is not a sandwich or burger (is a burger a type of sandwich?) for some reason is a stupidly contentious topic that people feel passionate about.
People take labels and their individual expectations of that label pretty emotionally.
For those asking for something that needs help/awareness, chronic pain sufferers (and disabled, but speaking from chronic pain myself) pretty much always have diminished mental clarity due to being in pain or stressed all the time. We can be seen as lazy when we don’t have a job or have a hard time contributing, but I think people don’t realize that getting medical shit done in america is like a full time job. The amount of hoops you need to jump through, repeat appointments to get your doctor to actually listen to your concerns, dealing with administration of doctors, insurance, and government because THEY STILL COMMUNICATE THROUGH FAXES, and just being dead tired of being a broken human being. You have to shout and scream basically or you will be pushed to the wayside.
So basically, please be aware of invisible illnesses and have patience. We may have the physical capability to do a task on a good day, but shit can get so beaten down. Also medically insurance covered, like, managers/secretaries that help you navigate this bullshit would be great. A real job as a medical advocate for a person should exist.
There could also be more awareness spread against the stigma/stereotype of people coasting off disability. (Often it’s snuffed when it’s mental) It’s not really enough to live on, it can be taken away extremely easily, you have to resign yourself to poverty because if you can make some money you aren’t truly disabled. That and disability submission takes 6 months to process, in which most people are denied first just cause. so they then have to get a lawyer to appeal, which takes months+. It’s hard to get disability, and it gives you scraps.
Chevy Ray pixel font?
I don’t think anyone thinks 4:3 was that bad, it’s just being used as a precursor/setup for “stop recording in vertical!!”
Hashtags exist for that purpose. You can follow them to be put into your home feed. As well, if you use the advanced web interface (like tweet deck), you can create a column with modifiers. Such as, I have a column that searches for both #pixelart and #lowpoly, but excludes posts with #NSFW or #Lewd, as well as #Pokemon (because I have a separate column for pokemon pixel artwork & lowpoly specifically)
I have heard misskey and calckey have a sort of trending feed, but not quite algorithmic, but unsure completely.
Getting real “wheeling in the cart for movie day in school” memories, except those were a lot less cool than this is.
Yeah! They don’t have to compete, they can all have their little different ways of doing things. Should probably crosspost more, I will try and do that when I can.
I followed a lot of gamedev subs and also have my own so I’m going to confuse where I am, heh.
If you find a jam (there’s a fedi jam somewhere) you can always make a looking from group post! I think, not sure about this community exactly.
That sounds about right, the MMO game ideas was in my upper teens. And yeah, it seems fedi in general is older.
I used to have a dream game when I had lots of free time and played a lot of MMOs. There’s a lot of systems I wanted, and to be something you could be on all day. Don’t get me wrong though, I in no way had delusions that I was gonna make an mmo.
A combination of getting responsibilities and learning more about game dev made me realize you don’t need an All game, the perfect dream one, when it would be better served to have multiple smaller and more focused games for the concepts you want to explore.
There are lots of small games I’m envisioning, but they start to get really complex while planning them so I haven’t quite got there yet.
My first game doesn’t really exist anymore. All that exists is a gif. As in, it was so small and very tiny that a gif can display the whole thing. I used phaser because I didn’t know any other languages besides javascript, and it was pretty awful. My friend did the art and talked about ideas. What was made was basically a prototype of some kind of gameplay, but it’s really not much. I…didn’t learn a whole lot. It was for the ludum dare that’s theme was ‘sacrifice’.
So we make Sacrifice Quack. I enjoy it only because the duck getting chucked chaining effect is very funny lol.
It’s been a bit, but when doing game jams I shuffled working alone and working as a team. It seems duos are the best options for me, but solo is okay. It’s just solo I get a little bit bogged down into doing the art and making it look nice instead of letting things be ugly first. If I’m working with an artist, things seem to go smoother because I can work on programming. 3 - 4 people on a very small game is too much, but obviously this is just jams and not something larger.
These are new, but there are other things listed here that seem new/not used yet so why not.
I have gamedev at !gamedev@crystals.rest, which is aiming to be both progress, idea, team collecting, and classifieds.
There is also pixel art at !pixel_art@crystals.rest, which isn’t much different than lemmy’s, but allows artists to list that they are taking commissions.
In the same vein, I have lowpoly at !lowpoly@crystals.rest, also posting work but able to list commissions.
He used to let me hold him like a ragdoll all the time. :)
