  • It’s not the same because the president doesn’t represent society in a democracy in the same way.

For Egypt, the pharaoh was the thing that made Egypt. Kind o like the Dalai Lama or Jesus, the pharaoh was the son of horus, the incarnation of the principle of ruling. I am not an expert but I would say that the pyramid was built for that principle and not the person itself, whereas Trump has a Trump tower to make himself known.

If it isn’t Trump but e.g. Taylor Swift, I could imagine fans to build something for her, e.g. her next stage set, if she offers to provide food and housing.

For democracy though, society should build something that doesn’t celebrate one person but the community. E.g. China has a day when every citizen plants a tree. When you see the effect after some years, you can feel the transforming power of the community.

People would have time to debate political issues. Their job wouldn’t take the biggest part of their life so they wouldn’t link their identity with their job. Social customs would change so that the people who should work 40 hours for the benefit of all prefer other jobs. Scarcity of applicants would also shift the power towards the employees for wage negotiations.

It’s possible and could improve society massively, but too risky for the current business owners to implement on their own.

  • At the same time as China launches satellites with high performance processing power. What’s the deal? How can launching everything into space be cheaper than building a data center at a cold place on earth?

Last time I read something about processors in space, NASA used special processors that were hardened against radiation. If state of the art processors are too fragile for space, who would use such a data center?

  • This is such a sad ‘isolanistic’ approach. There are other countries in Europe with a less tight labor market. Production could be moved there. Everybody would be happy.

But production is supposed to be automated. The number of newly installed robots compared to China doesn’t make Europe look good.

The plan can only be to push through the next couple of years until OpenAI, Google and Boston Dynamics have developed the robots to take over production.

It seems like you escape your inner conflicts by being industrious.

Not professional advice but instead of going, you could halt posting for a moment and focus on your breathing. It will assure you that you are safe, and you can let the conflicts become a bit more aware without feeling overwhelmed by the terror. Do this for some time and you create the space to transform your conflicts.

Totally. Only that I postponed the thing I had to do for even longer.

Your post made me realize that I postpone because I am afraid of hyperfixating. When I hyperfixate I do things that I don’t want to be do, but that have to be done to make them right.

Like I expected, when I finally did what I had to do, I found something that was not right, and spent some additional time on it without being able to let go.

Here is an older thought about it: Could it be that ADHD is an identity thing? Essentially like transsexual but for being and not sex. Hyperfocussing is like wearing a mask, not out of fear of social reactions but from the inability of maintaining my identity. I lost my day by being afraid of experiencing being-dysphoria. It only ends when the fear of the consequences of inaction are bigger than the fears of dysphoria.
