I know Unciv for a very long time, but never tried it out. Really need to test it just for fun. The best part of it, is not that the price is free, but the source code is Open Source. https://github.com/yairm210/Unciv

What is happening

But Hurd is too far behind and will probably never be a real alternative to Linux. Also the Linux Kernel is not what adopts the Age Verification, its the distribution. Therefore instead changing the Kernel, they just need to change on the distribution what they do not like. Or create the same distribution with Linux, they would create with GNU Hurd.

First time I hear about Gobolinux. A quick websearch for comparison between Nix and Gobolinux brought me this article from 2011: https://sandervanderburg.blogspot.com/2011/12/evaluation-and-comparison-of-gobolinux.html . An interesting system.

To me there is a clear distinction between both types. Sometimes it gets blurry if they use different techniques from both sides. There is also the term “Port”, which is less of a “Remaster”. So its even more blurry, even when I try to formally describe it. Here is my definition:

• Remaster: Basically taking the same code and base and “recompile” it for a new version. Graphics are usually not remade, programming code is the same (but with touch ups off course). Rather it has higher resolution output from original graphics, like higher res textures compiled from original resources, adding functionality to make the game compatible with modern hardware and features like HDR and gamepads in example.
• Remake: Making a new game from scratch, programming it again (off course they can take over old stuff), with new graphics to approximate the same game. Sometimes they even manage to make the game look and feel the same, where people think its a Remaster. But in fact it is programmed from scratch and has no common source in anymore, it is just faithfully recreated.

Off course this is just one mans definition. And both terms are used somewhere in between, and people don’t share my opinion. Therefore I never know if the game is a Remaster or Remake actually.

If he really means it like this, then this person is no longer trustworthy for me.

WTF we are talking about Linux, the biggest and most important piece of software. What are you even talking about will and adults? Sorry if this was meant to be a joke. But having a plan like this is crucial important.

I feel like this comment was a sarcastic joke and people didn’t pick it up.^^ Especially after the Hurd line, this has to be a joke.

Linus is not the only one involved in Linux. Most work and decisions are done without Linus’ involvement at all. There are candidates (especially Greg) who are as important as Linus themselves and probably will take over the project. This is not a single user driven project.

What amazes me is, that a formal official plan (this) is just done recently a few months ago. How was there no official plan before? I don’t understand…

(Me being smart) Depends when you read the comment (checking the time of reply) never mind 17 hours ago. It’s out of stock for Germany too.

I think the refurbished ones are under appreciated. They have manual calibration by a human, and therefore can exceed the standard factory model:

All refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units.

The only downside is, it can (but don’t have to) have visible cosmetic blemishes. But in return you get same experience and rights of a factory model with lower cost, which is a huge deal in today’s day and age. This is the reason why I consider my next Steam Deck 2 (OLED) as a refurbished one. I can wait. :-)

I want to highlight a few mods (because this question will come up eventually :-) ):

Sonic_

• Sonic the Hedgehog 1 @ SAGE 2010: A competitive focused challenge with scoring and time attack in mind. Play each Act individually and record highscores for each.
• An Ordinary Sonic ROM Hack (SHC 2013): A creepypasta style game, where a creepy Sonic variant is hunting you.
• Jesters Challenge: A huge single level maze, that plays unlike a normal Sonic game.
• Character Pak: Adds 4 playable characters, Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Link and Luigi. into the normal Sonic 1 game. Each with their own movesets and playstyle.

Sonic 3 Knuckles_

• Sonic 3 Complete: Improves the game and adds options and features, without altering the original game. Basically the ultimate version how it should have been in the first place.

Streets of Rage 2_

• TMNT Shredders Re-Revenge - New Music: Changes the entire game, including all characters, enemies and bosses to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. Even gameplay is adjusted, such as jumping further and 6 button support. This version with New Music just adds TMNT style music to the already excellent mod.
• SF2 (Dhalsim Ryu Guile Ken): Set of multiple mods different set of playable characters from the Street Fighter 2 series. (note their description file is empty)
• River City Girls of Rage: Extensive mod, with playable characters from River City Girls. Has ton of gameplay tweaks and features as well, and a uniqe set of moves.

Ghostbusters_

• Special Edition: Adds Winston as a playable character and into the story sequences. Plus lots of new features and fixes.

Addams Family_

• Afterlife MD (White Suit) + Improved Controls: Adds quality of life improvements such SRAM save functionality and new mechanics. Combined with another hack for better controls.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3_

• Arcade Hack + Recolour (Play v0.71): Brings it closer to the Arcade version, with lots of improvements for audio and visual quality, adds ton of features, restores levels and more. The additional recolour patch makes this the ultimate MK3 experience on Genesis / Mega Drive.

Road Rash 2_

• Improvement: Optimizes the framerate for more fluid gameplay and other improvements, adds 6-button control support, fixes lots of bugs, changes some coloring.

Weird. I am blocking ads and most scripts. Site loads fine for me. Guess yours is a bit more aggressive.
