Ah, another ad disguised as an article. I understand the average person doesn’t know how to do bike maintenance and would need to learn about pumps, patch kits, etc; but saying “no one told me I’d also need” a helmet and a bike lock is kinda ridiculous.
A few years ago I’d recommend Gaia, but it’s gone downhill ever since the acquisition. Komoot or onX Backcountry may have what you’re looking for. Caltopo is great for maps, but it’s less user-friendly and doesn’t have curated content.
What exactly do they even do

Serious transport alternative is a good way to put it. We have a pedal-assist e-cargo bike and it’s a game changer for mobility.
When I was pregnant, I was able to ebike to my doctor’s appointments pretty much up until I gave birth. My husband uses it for most hardware store runs. Grocery trips for heavy items like cat litter, taking the dogs to the vet, the list goes on.
These are all possible on a non-e cargo bike (or normal bike + trailer) but realistically we would have defaulted to the car most times. Now we drive less than once a week.
