Security expert says that "law enforcement isn't yet ready for climate change"
Detlef Schröder, former Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), claims that law enforcement needs a "holistic review of its approach" to the challenges posed by climate change. "When climate change is mentioned in European law enforcement circles, it is often in reference to the management of environmental protests or even workplace policies, but rarely law enforcement’s direct role in climate change mitigation and the reduction of climate crime."

"We need them now more than ever": UN calls for protection of climate activists following crackdown in Germany
Protesters had been instrumental at "crucial moments in pushing governments and business leaders to do much more, and global climate goals would already be out of reach without them," UN Secretary-General António Guterres' spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told the German press. "Climate activists - led by the moral voice of young people - have continued to pursue their goals even in the darkest days. They need to be protected."

According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), we have about ten years to avoid the point of no return. Greenhouse gas emissions have reached unprecedented levels. Between 15% and 51% are due to the consumption of meat and other animal products. Ethical alternatives exist that can produce the same amount of meat with 96% less greenhouse gas emissions. The technology to save the world exists! The petition is for subventions of plant based meat alternatives, and to end subventioning animal products as "essential food"

Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) is one of the world’s biggest providers of creationist science materials, consisting of reading programmes and a core curriculum. Researchers at the University College London found that its latest edition, which has been released to year groups from Key stages 1 to 3 gradually over the last few years, now claims to show ‘evidence’ that human-caused climate change is not real.

We’re a collective of individuals upset with the way social media has been traditionally governed. A severe lack of moderation has led to major platforms like Facebook to turn into political machinery focused on disinformation campaigns as a way to make profit off of users. Websites with ineffective moderation allow hate speech to proliferate and contribute to the erosion of minority rights and safe spaces. Our goal with Beehaw is to demonstrate and promote a healthier environment.

Some thoughts on our philosophy:

Operating our server costs money. If you donate, you should know that 100% of the costs will go towards server time, licensing costs, and artwork. In the future if we need to hire developers or other labor, it would be sourced through the Open Collective Foundation, and it would be transparent to the community before any changes were made.

As a news aggregator and a social media outlet, with a focus on being a safe and accepting space, we strive to create a positive social impact. We will, also, help to connect underprivileged and minority individuals with education and civic participation by promoting a healthier online experience.
