Whups; I should clarify that I’ve never cooked it myself. I like Palak Paneer as an occasional treat, but the store-bought stuff around here is too salty, plus I don’t really need the cheese as an aging, somewhat out-of-shape bloke.
Unfortunately I don’t have many of my Indian spices / whole seeds in stock these days. Well, I mean… some cumin seeds, a dwindling bag of Panch Puran, and a couple containers of Ghee is about it, that is.
I’ve never encountered palak in the store, though I’ve had it at some restaurants. When I make it myself I tend to do a vegan version, replacing the paneer with a medium firm tofu. It’s not quite the same thing, but I also think tofu is delicious so…
