As far back as the 50s their scientists showed that asbestos was present in their talc. Back when the story broken I read that some of their internal research even associated talc itself with cancer. In the 70s they lied to regulators, saying they hadn’t found any asbestos recently, they had of course. Even after most other companies stopped using actual talc in baby powder, J&J refused to change and insisted it was safe.

Yeah and thousands of Chinese companies are selling billions of vape pens worldwide which damage lung DNA with dihydroacetone product of vape juice heating, but the internet says it’s “safer”.
Interesting that they had 1% tolerance of it contaminated with asbestos and they said f UK for a few more years.
The judge noted that safer alternatives, such as cornstarch, were available and known to the company, yet J&J continued selling talc-based powder in the US until 2020 and in the UK until three years later.
Wonder how safe the new stuff is.
