Former Republican Congressman Joe Walsh issued a grave warning that the Trump administration is planning to “incite” violence during Saturday’s “No Kings” protests, which he said he expected to be the “largest peaceful protest in American history.”“Trump and his people, they want violence, and they'...
Just like the internet, don’t fall for it. They’re constantly trying to get people to be violent.
We have to do this peacefully. Not because of some moral high ground, but because that’s what they want so they can take over our cities and kill their “enemies.”
Well many seem to think that ‘real threats’ includes smashing fashion store windows and throwing bricks at lackeys in uniforms. Performative violence is just story building material for those who control the narrative.
Effective violence is directed surgically at assets, or at processes and procedures. That means sabotage that costs the oligarchs and not small business, vandalism that makes you think, disruption of the trickle up effect, and personal fear for individuals ONLY after the other escalations.
Of course in the USA the ammosexuals are pushing cart before horse and people are dying for the news cycle.
Are you out there putting your life on the line, right now, at a protest? I haven’t heard of anyone going after anyone physically, so you’re probably not. Telling others to “dO soMEthIng!” isn’t brave.
Seriously, it’s been pretty fun out here, everyone should come join!
I don’t think I was clear about what I was saying, I completely agree with this. When I say “put your life on the line,” I mean start doing the violence they’re encouraging, *and take their own risks, not because it’s violent at the protests.
What did he encourage? Seems like you’re the one handing down proclamations.
I wasn’t there when the assault happened, but I helped make the organizers aware. If I had been there I would have clocked him in the side of the head with my protest sign.
I think you’re confusing what I’m saying. I’m saying to stop promoting violence. And that the people who are promoting violence, are telling others to do it, while watching from the sidelines. Those people are cowardly instigators.
Obviously not; I wouldn’t be posting here if I were. I wouldn’t encourage spontaneous violence at protests either. There’s more ways to have consequences than just violence though. Simply closing off streets in downtown business districts could be part of that, although not sure how doing these on a few hours on a single day on a weekend would contribute do much - still better than what I’m doing with my day. Weekdays would be far more disruptive. Especially since a lot of people would have to skip work to go (of course I’m a hypocrite on this given I’m skipping today because I’m at work). But yeah; I’m a coward who certainly wouldn’t actually commit any violence even if I’m though I think what happened to United’s CEO was cool. And I don’t think many other people have been pushed to the point where they’d consider that a viable option. Nor do I think many people in the US would be willing to be disruptive in other ways (such as general strikes). So I expect things to get worse, regardless of the behavior of protestors today.
I don’t give a shit what they want. They are fascist; their opinion of us is literally of no importance to me and will not affect my actions in the slightest. I will act in an ethical manner to the best of my ability at all times.
Understand that it won’t matter. They will find a way to make it fit the narrative and do exactly what they are planning to do, even if this somehow ends up being the most peaceful protest of all time.
These movements will only be effective with wide public support, though, and if they’re able to loop footage of protesters ‘being violent’, public support will collapse.
Even when they provoke us, we need to remain as peaceful as possible, not because doing otherwise will incite more violence from them, but because we need it to be obvious that the violence is entirely one-sided and unwarranted.
They’re already lying about us – we can’t verify their lies.
It still matters. A video of peaceful protestors being abused by cops/soldiers/ICE is powerful, and even with all the corporate media in Trump’s pocket, those types of videos still get seen.
“And so I come full circle on this response and just want to encourage you with some substance that we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”
Project 2025 and Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts
Yes they want to take over without a fight. You are trying to make us give them what they want.
They do not need you to act violent to paint you as violent to their followers. They already believe these cities are lawless warzones, despite overwhelming visual evidence to the contrary. This is the post-truth era.

I see what they’re saying, but they haven’t gone to mass murdering out in the open yet.
And if they don’t face real threats and consequences, they’ll continue inching closer and closer to that goal.

I am at a protest right now, and it feels a lot more like a parade than “putting my life on the line”.
I fully agree with your points tbh, but I don’t want to scare people away either.
Seriously, it’s been pretty fun out here, everyone should come join!

Our protest ended an hour ago, and my friend was assaulted by a trump supporter. No serious injuries, but is that enough to pass your purity test?
No, what did you do about it? Did you do the things the original guy is encouraging?
What did he encourage? Seems like you’re the one handing down proclamations.

Was at multiple events through out the day in burbs north of Chicago. Nothing but relaxed peaceful people waving signs and honking horns.

Yeah fair.

LA tells us differently.

You guys protest on the sidewalks to not disturb the cars?
Yeah, exactly.
Not the same as murdering them.
This is the dumbest goddamn take.
They already told you, “the revolution will be bloodless if the left allows it to be.”
You’re allowing it to be.
I almost think they’re right wing astro turfers at this point.
LMAO, because everyone knows that republicans are promoting peace.

Sure thing, clanker.
