I knew a cat who once fished some aluminium foil a steak had been grilled on out of the bin and dragged it to his water bowl.
Had a cat once who loved to drop aluminium foil balls (which we threw for her to chase and play with, and ended up laying around all over the place, as cat toys are wont to) into the water bowl and then fish them out.

Do your cats also have a favorite “toy” (or sock) that they can’t do without? One of mine has a little plush that he brings around everywhere. We keep finding it everywhere, like under the bed covers.
Mine has a plush squid that he brings everywhere, even the litter box
