I think the sub needs to protect itself from spam. Reddit was notorious for the T-shirt scammers and they’re already starting to come around here.

I dont know what the solution is, but maybe no self promotion/commerce links would be a start?

No advertising. People shouldn’t be trying to viral market their stuff under the guise of “look at this cool thing I saw”

I would like posts showing shirts (or potholders, hats, whatever) to be actual photos of actual shirts (or potholders, hats, whatever).

Sure, it’s more fun to find them in the wild, but I’m not against hypothetical shirt designs.

Even when it’s just a meme on a tshirt template?

        That’s how you make a meme-on-a-tshirt-template mill.

        🤔
Now that I think about it I guess shirt that goes hard it just a meme that goes hard on a tshirt though?

The Reddit scam always involved multiple accounts to circumvent the rules.

One account would post the shirt and a second account would invariably post a link to where they “found” a link to buy it.

Then there would be a veritable army of collaborators that wouldn’t post and just downvote anyone who called it out into oblivion.

Unfortunately the only solution I can come up with would be to ban commerce links altogether. …which sucks for authentic users.

ETA: I forgot they would sometimes run the scam with a third account that would ask where it could be bought for the link posting account to reply to.

I’ve never had or seen a problem with the current rules. Why fix what isn’t broken?

Also this community is neither large enough nor active enough that limiting posting, which is what rules do after all, would be advantageous.
