is talking to someone you live with count as talking to someone IRL? 😅
oo, a hack i learned: if I put my toothbrush in the shower, I’m more likely to brush my teeth because it gives me an excuse to stay under the hot water for longer
otherwise it can feel too much like a burdensome task and I have to force myself to do it (establishing habits is hard)
I definitely shower less frequently than I brush my teeth …
Sounds good enough to me. A lot of days, I literally don’t talk to anyone or only “hello” and “thanks” to the supermarkt cashier.
I’m weirdly upset / bothered if I’m not very clean when I climb into my sheets (like, intrusive thoughts that make it harder to relax); my bed is a “clean” zone and not showering before getting in bed is a Very Bad Thing - so I shower every day, before bed. The warm water probably also helps me relax and sleep better, if I had to guess?
I guess if I didn’t shower every day … I would have to find some other way to reward brushing my teeth. Recently I have found that I can buy children’s toothpaste, and their toothpaste is a lot more fun and interesting - I found one that is strawberry flavored and that has also brought joy, so maybe something along those lines could work, the underlying lesson is to find a way to make brushing the teeth enjoyable, then you will want to do it!
Another benefit to moving my teeth cleaning to the shower is that I learned I never could get myself to floss, but I love using a water flosser in the shower! So now I have (against all odds) incorporated flossing into my daily routine as well.
EDIT:
In that case I’m doing great, lol. Admittedly I sometimes go weeks only talking to my partner IRL, but it doesn’t seem to bother me. I’m a shut-in, but happy about it. I do leave my house once a week to go grocery shopping, but I use self-checkouts and avoid interactions when possible (I don’t hate people, it’s just easier / less stressful for me).
I mean, the normal thing to do is showering every day and brushing your teeth twice a day. If you only brush your teeth once a day, that’s still less than you should, so it only helps if you’re the type who would go a day or more without brushing your teeth even once (this is extremely rare for me, but it happens pretty often that I only brush once per day).
I wear a mouth guard and sometimes I brush my teeth in the morning (without toothpaste, though) after scrubbing my mouth guard … but it’s not consistent.
And yeah, once a day isn’t ideal, but it’s better than the less than once a day I was at before 😞
That said, I do eat a rather healthy diet with lots of fiber and vegetables, and my dentists have always said I have remarkably clean teeth (even before I started brushing my teeth once a day, lol - I always found that ironic).
My dentists have also told me to brush less vigorously, but I’ve always used the softest brushes, and I brush usually once or twice a day, so I don’t know what else to do (I don’t think I’m brushing that hard, tbh).
if it makes you happy talking to those you live with, sure, otherwise no
I strongly feel people at home or work (if in your team) shouldn’t count.
oh … uh oh, I might talk to someone IRL 1 - 4 times a month, then?
There is a support group I go to once a month, so that is the only guaranteed interaction outside my partner at home.
I’m recently unemployed, so I don’t even have work interactions.
Otherwise, my only interactions are random interactions when I’m grocery shopping; at most usually it’s someone exclaiming about a broken cash register, or someone talking about the weather. This doesn’t happen every week, so maybe 1 - 2 times a month I have an interaction outside my home?
