Because reddit had more niche communities that I was into and it’s way more populated which is to be expected, but I also love how open this website seems so far, my main gripe with Reddit is that if you are a new account you are pretty much fucked, I’m not against moderation but Reddit overdoes it.

There are some subreddits that I miss but there’s also usually a lot less bullshit here. The giant “fuck you” to third party app developers was the last straw for me. I wasn’t even in that group but that pretty much told me where reddit was heading and I wasn’t willing to go along with it. But, there’s probably quite a few people here who still use Reddit. Either way, welcome!

I’m not against it, It’s just I used reddit for everything regarding news and I overral liked engaging with posts but it’s always like I had this fear that if I say something wrong I would get banned by a moderator or something.

Also the permament ban thing is really harsh for me it should exist for posting REALLY FUCKED UP stuff, not because you posted something and a bot happened to snipe it.

Your real concern should be that Spez gets to censor what you’re reading in a real way.

Not only does he get to remove stuff that counters his narrative, he also can allow certain types of narratives to flood the site.

Editorial control is huge, and giving that to Spez seems insane to me. That, along with Facebook, 4chan, and every other social media is certainly how we got a shitty president who was basically nobody relevant until 2015.

spez has been bowing to musks demands against reddit since the beginning of this year, thats why thier moderation is so heavy handed, plus AI scraping, botting,.

            I can’t stress this enough.

Before the api changes killed transparency tools, you could look at the censorship that reddit was doing. Literally 97% of posts that reached the front page were deleted.

There isn’t enough of a population to get a good small niche community going. Also it can be difficult to find the community in the first place. The fight stick community on Reddit is very active. On Lemmy it has been around for a while and remains completely dead.

it is, people are going to be on reddit , where all of them are, it would hardpress to convince them to go on lemmy, when reddit has a larger community. Only if they get banned i can see that is the only way they might come here.

I feel like we’re slowly growing here, lots of very rich communities have been built now.

But yes, my city and hobby communities are still a ghost town. We don’t have critical mass on lots of stuff yet.

Give it time. If there is as much a problem at Reddit as it seems, its only a matter of time before more and more folks make their way here.

One of my co-workers that plays No Man’s Sky was looking for help on the NMS sub and was shocked to find as many deleted posts as he did.

        Something is DEFINITELY up there…

The video game subs are 100% cesspools of negativity now.

Reddit has a huge whiner bias problem.

Ehhhh… NMS ia a different animal.

Honestly, it’s got one of the coolest player communities - like NO one grouses at other people over game play, simply because it’s got such varied options. (I’ve been in creative mode for years just building bases and survival shelters with resources left available for others to use if they need help) There’s really no one that is streaming their games and getting into flame wars over this, that or the other…

I mean there’s griefers, but they do shit things like build on other people’s bases or make trap bases that kill players or break into the online space (the Anomaly) and kill newbies that have their game PVP settings on. (I had some jackass strafe at me as I was base building and as I was in creative, the shots did nothing, so I just let him figure it out and he eventually landed and checked my base out - dude must’ve been on Ultra Hard as a cloud of sentinel robots swarmed in with him and left as soon as he did… THAT was surreal as hell, as they’re super rare to see in Creative) but everyone agrees, the griefers are assholes and they get slapped down fast enough and the newbies will be sorted by other players and gifted resources they’d lost.

It’s a great game and a really chill community.
