As much as any single person can, Summers embodies the most odious qualities of the political elite and the scorn they show for basic human well-being. We don’t need to be getting our policy insights from a pedophile-adjacent, ethically conflicted nepo baby. His advice isn’t worth it. He was wrong about our recent bout of inflation. He was wrong about bank deregulation. He was wrong about free trade agreements. He was wrong about fiscal stimulus. He even lost Harvard nearly $2 billion as president.

We should demand much more from our economists, policymakers, and leaders. Indeed, making a more humane, responsive government will depend on it.

While I agree with the sentiment, given what “polite society” has evolved into and where it’s gotten us and who’s at the top of it these days… I mean… what’s the point of gatekeeping one more shitgoblin?

Listen, I agree. But I also question which members of “polite society” are reading his rap sheet in The Intercept relative to some gushy hagiographies published in The Atlantic or the NYT.

Not that I care but about the dispute but the guy should have been shamed out of society after the film ‘The Social Network’ was released. Then if that didn’t do the trick even Biden booting him from Democrat circle for wanting to create mass unemployment to “cool the economy” should have done the trick. Kind of sad it takes this much for it to be considered.

Luckily he looks like a bog creature and will be easy to exclude.
