The worst-case scenario is now a possible one: European troops fighting off an invasion largely alone
It’s by no means clear the Europeans would succeed. Romanian and other European officials at the exercise in Cincu, about 260 kilometers (162 miles) north of Bucharest by road, voiced concerns about how long it would take for NATO allies to make it to the front.
French four-star General Philippe de Montenon said he’s confident Europe could prevail, even without the US on side.
“The direction of history is a progressive disengagement of the United States from the European continent,” he said.

Nope… not getting your message bro. EU is hitting defense spending €570 B in 2025, and €624 B or more in 2026. We need to work on more atack planes to have a better balance.
Together we have like a minimum of 500 nuclear warheads. For now it’s sufficient to offer some deterrence to most enemies, but we are building more. We have new inter-member alliances popping up on a regular bases, in the style of coalition of the willing. There is one in the north too. The EU has also been establishing new bilateral defense pacts with other allied countries like with U.K., Canada & Japan.
