In 15 years of the MCU existing, I know that I have seen and read hundreds of different fan theories. There were some very popular ones, like Heimdall/the bofrost being tied to the Soul Stone, and some eccentric ones that only one guy insisted on but no one else believed.

What are your fan theory highlights?

If we ever get a Sentry movie or series, we’ll learn that Bob Reynolds has been an important character, not to mention founding member, of every Avengers movie, we just don’t remember him. We’ll see flashbacks to iconic moments with the Sentry saving the day, filling in plot holes, helping in each fight. When everyone is trying to lift Mjolnir, you’ll see the shadow of the Void when he tries. The Void attacks some time after Ultron but before Civil War, forcing Reynolds to ask the Ancient One for help in erasing him from everyone’s mind (similar to the spell Strange fucked up in No Way Home).

We also learn that he’s in the computer voice print as “The Strongest Avenger” following a bet between him and Thor, and Thor’s loss is why he’s listed as “Point Break.” That’s why he doesn’t remember.

Remembering who he was also creates a massive amount of guilt because he wasn’t there to keep his team together in Civil War, he wasn’t there to help fight Thanos, and he feels like he could have saved Tony and Natasha.

I wonder if they would ever do this with ForgetMeNot when they start doing mutants. But also, can you imagine a Memento style movie with ForgetMeNot?

That would be fun. He could also be a critical character in an Messiah Complex-type introduction to the MCU.

Like imagine if M-Day happened, except Wanda was far more effective at rewriting Mutants out of existence entirely. Her powers, along with her brothers, are returned to the timeline by the Stones, but she has no memory of what she did or why.

Fast forward to the present, when Hope is born in the current multiversal MCU with the power to re-power mutants, and is immediately attacked by the Purifiers who kill her mother Then comes the time traveling X-Force team come to protect her from Bishop and Nimrod. Baby Hope is being toted around by Cable, Wolverine, Deadpool, Domino, Colossus, maybe an adult Negasonic and Yukio, bumping into random mutants and unlocking their latent powers. But also, they keep getting bailed out of near-death experiences by an extra in the background of the scene. Nobody really notices it until they run into a middle aged Charles Xavier, and he can read ForgetMeNot’s mind, except he’s Xabi Spalding, Hope’s biological dad who nobody ever bothered to look for or even questioned if he was alive. He’s been following them around from the beginning, having watched his wife give birth and his powers unlocked the moment he held his daughter. He’s exasperated because he has explained this several times already.

Xabi sacrifices himself after he agrees to let Cable take Hope to the future to protect her, and we realize that an adult Hope had also been in the background, mimicking her dad’s powers (among others) and saving his ass. They reunite moments before he is killed. By Stryfe. Wade loses his shit at the number of twists.

I remember in the early post-Avengers days there was the theory that Clark Gregg was going to return to the MCU as Vision, and Vision was going to be based on Coulson’s brainwaves. Obviously this was before Agents of Shield.

Well, I’d count that as “halfway true”. Coulson returned in basically every kind of forms except as Vision lol

The idea that the locations of the Infinity Stones spelled out Thanos. Tesseract (space stone) Heimdall (was the leading theory for the soul stone like mentioned above) Aether (reality stone) Necklace (time stone) Orb (power stone) Scepter (mind stone

It was close to plausible, though stuff like necklace and orb were stretching it. But even after infinity war I saw people trying to make it still work.

This is the kind of theory that worked great as a first-look graphic on 9gag and reddit, and when I first saw that I was like “oh that’s neat”. But as soon as you looked deeper into it and how the words were stretching it, it became clear that it couldnt be true. I felt really disappointed when I realized that someone simply came up with words in order to make if work.

I heard a theory that the reason why Loki made such an obviously fake oath of allegiance to Thanos only to be killed moments later was so that he could die “in battle,” go to Valhalla, and then return with an army of dead heroes in Endgame, possibly dealing with Hela in the afterlife.

Another theory: Thanos was going to use the Infinity Gauntlet to summon a villain from each prior appearance of an Infinity Stone who had been vanquished by the relevant stone. Red Skull was going to pop out of the space stone, Ultron out of the mind stone, Ronan out of the power stone, Kaecilius out of the time stone, Malekith out of the reality stone, and villain yet to be determined from the soul gem. Would have made for a cool anti-Avengers team.
