    From the article:

    The lines mark the orientation of polarization, which is related to the magnetic field around the shadow of the black hole.

      One of my worst pet peeves is people claiming renders from scientific data are the same as a photograph. Amazing how I figured it out in highschool and I’m still seeing headlines banking on this misconception.

      The first image was of radio signals so not exactly “light” as we’d think of it typically. This is supposedly polarized light so technically an “actual image” in the way we think of pictures involving light.
