The satellite images reveal a layout of streets strongly resembling the Bo’ai Special Zone, a restricted area in Taipei’s Zhongzheng District that houses Taiwan’s most important state buildings, including the presidential palace, the supreme court, the ministry of justice and the central bank of Taiwan.

The Bo’ai Special Zone is subject to specific regulations, including a strict ban on overflight.

I live near here. Those mfer have make landfall before actually getting to this point.

You can air drop men, but you need boots on ground from a ship to actually take over my country.

I wouldn’t want to be in the airborne unit being dropped. Your choices are basically to be dropped into urban combat, or on a freaking mountain. But I think I’d probably choose that over an amphibious landing on an island that’s been fortifying for this specific engagement for decades.

Either way, I definitely wouldn’t choose Taiwan as my first combined arms offensive in 40 years.

Without ammunition, shelter, food/water resupplies, the airborne unit would be a literal suicide mission.

Not just our beaches are fortified, but we also know when they will be coming. The seas in the Taiwan straits are very rough and there are only a few months out of the year that would be suitable to invade.

Plus, we know which side they would invade. Since we have a vast mountain range that blocks East and West. Also speaking of mountain ranges, our troops will take up refuge in those said mountains and conduct guerrilla warfare.

But let’s be real for a second. the CCP(should) have little interest in invading Taiwan. Sanctions from the West would cripple the country. Also their birthrates are at an all time low. A war would devastate that even more. China is already feeling some discontent since the CCP has broken the golden contract. The last thing they would want is to have another civil war, like the one that drove the original Chinese government to Taiwan in the first place.

Either way, outside of the 2AM fighter jet scrambles, we are not concerned.

I imagine if a full invasion ever happened it would be a complete shit show. Large combined arms maneuvers are problematic for countries with actual experience. I can’t imagine choosing Taiwan for your first time.

One would hope, but it wouldn’t exactly surprise me if they utilized it as a rallying cry if the rise in discontent on the mainland continues.

Tbh, this seems more like training facilities for special operations. In the 60’s North Korea built a to scale mock up of the Blue House in Seoul for the same reason, then they carried out a raid in an attempt to kill the president.

I wonder if the construction of the mock up in China aligns with your recent election cycle? From what I’ve read about Ching-te, he seems pretty adamant about the sovereignty of your country.

Well, the CCP did invade India in the Sino Indian war. But that was in the 60s. They are not exactly new at it. I think they also invaded Vietnam but my memory is fuzzy on why.

I voted for the first time in my life in Taiwan for this election. I think the main reason the KMT lost was because of a 3rd party ticket. I voted for Ching-te since he was the VP and I love how much he loves his people.

My dad used to tell me that barking dogs don’t bite. You worry about the quiet ones. That’s why I always knew Putin would invade.

Their last major engagement was the sino Vietnamese war, where they attempted to invade Vietnam to support the Khmer rouge in Cambodia. It was a complete shit show.

Oh shit, you’re right. Well, we hope to give them a bigger shit show if they wanna fuck around.
