I don’t think the judge is badly ignorant of the law, but rather in a very difficult position of trying to preside over a fair trial while also dealing with protestor outside court. He got it wrong in this case, but it’s not a simple and straight forward good vs evil story.
Judge Silas Reid should be forced to take some continuing legal education for his ignorance of the long established right of jury nullification.
Either Judge Reid is badly ignorant of the law, or he attempted to suppress a lawful right to protest because it annoyed him personally.
Attempts to suppress knowledge of jury nullification are unfortunately also a long established tradition.
