Good thought. I’ve never seen his abilities at work, though. Maybe the virtual game character Felix from "Wreckhit Ralph"s in-movie game “Fix-It Felix Jr” could also be worth a thought.

In the recent film you can, though

        spoiler

the house breaks after the Mario Brothers are attacked by a dog because Luigi accidentally stopped on its bone.

Possibly. I tried to think of a character that improves the people’s lives by inventing some cool stuff but I could not image a character like that.

OK, I may have missed in that one… Thanks! Indeed. Most in game inventions are rather James Bond-esque and not useful for most people.

Solid Snake. Can you just imagine, riding a bus with him and watching him squirm at every ding or watching him fight the urge to dive and roll behind a chair and then crawl under the seats to retrieve an empty carton of cigs?

Take the same approach The Watchmen took. Make it a horrific villain. Giygas, SHODAN, Kefka…

Someone fully capable of ending humanity if left to their own devices. Either we, as in humanity as a whole, organize and unify as one people against a common enemy and fight them, or we all die. It solves a problem, either way.
