After being sick in bed the whole day yesterday, I just might stay up for the whole 24 hours.
Love this track, too. Spent soooo much time on it in Race Driver: Grid.
You need to use ! !motorsport@lemmy.ml
I started at the beginning, but then went to get some food. And then I ended up taking a drive around town. Was gone for like an hr.
I feel like when I left it was a safety car. And then when I got back it was a safety car. Not sure if the same one or not.
I don’t know all the rules with WEC and endurance racing, but why is this safety car so long? Just because it’s wet? They have wet tires don’t they? Or are they still on slicks?
I fell asleep just during that time and looking at Twitter, missed the best parts :'(
I heard the commentors say they were repairing a barrier, I guess that’s what the SC was for, but I can’t be sure.
Raining again. It’s like an ice rink out there right now.
And just as I was going to take a nap…
I usually give it a watch here and there during the 24hrs. My favourite race is the GT Challenge EU Spa 24. The past couple of years, 1st and 2nd place have been finishing within seconds of eachother.
Edit; it’s amazing watching a NASCAR roaring through Le Mans!
This about formula 1? If yes you may wanna try !formula1@lemmy.ml, or make a general racing community yourself 😉
I’m running !formuladank@lemmy.world myself.
No, this is Le Mans, a thing of its own, albeit also a part of WEC, European 24H series and the Le Mans Cup I guess. The most gorgeous cars on the planet and none of the F1 reality show drama.
Well, that’s an exciting start… Half an hour down the drain. I’m sleepy.
I’m not actively watching but it’s on the tv and I look at it every once in a while. Now that the rain is starting again I might have to watch a bit.
Despite me thinking I’ll stay up, I went napping 2 hours into the race and missed the best part.
I can hardly blame myself since those 2 hours were all just safety cars and long yellows, but still… Shit.
The Daily Brief - I have been subscribed to their daily email newsletters for about 2 years. It’s been a helpful way for me to stay vaguely aware of the most major global news events. I appreciate that each news story is condensed to a single factual paragraph without speculation or an imposed narrative:
TRUMP INVESTIGATIONS | Multiple media outlets reported yesterday that the U.S. Department of Justice has issued a target letter to attorneys for former President Donald Trump informing them that Trump is the subject of a criminal investigation related to the retention of classified documents at his home in Florida. Such target letters typically indicate that prosecutors feel they have substantial evidence linking someone to a crime. [more]
This is from one of their news briefs that came out yesterday Thursday, June 8, 2023. Notice that what is stated is purely factual and does not impose a narrative. It’s a useful tool for getting a quick idea of what happened in the world yesterday, before reading more about specific stories using other news sources.
