The new word won’t use any of the letter you’ve already ruled out (so if you guess “doors”, for example, the new word won’t have d, o, r, or s).

I know this isn’t exactly a new game, but I thought I’d share it because it is, as the name implies, absurd.

For some reason, I appreciate that you’re not working towards one specific word from the start but slowly narrowing down the “available words” until one fits.

I didn’t notice any difference either, until I realised that this is actually how I play wordle already. My first 2, normally 3 guesses are just covering the space of likely letters with no repeats.

Nah I’d say that the more words there are, the more information you’ll have to solve other words which makes things easy. I remember trying a 32-word one once and after my 3 starting guesses of choice it was just one word per guess. I think something like Quordle or Octordle would be better.

If you want another time sink, try redactle. It takes a random wikipedia page and redacts all but very common words. You guess words and it reveals them until you can guess the article title.

Gets a bit repetitive unless you use the random guess feature. It being so strict in trying to avoid letters doesn’t help with that. It would be better if it had a bit more smarts and also tried to “keep its options open” by picking answers with many alternatives to switch to. As is it seems more interesting to think about than play.

At least it doesn’t put ads literally over the keyboard like a certain other game
