Additionally: what’s the best post-apocalyptic TTRPG these days?
I’m trying so hard to get an IRL in person Mothership game going because it looks so sick. I got the box set because I’m a paypig, so all I gotta do is work around five different 30+ adults’ schedules.
I caved and bought it, this video tickled my brain stem in all the right spots to force a sale on me, haha.
Oh yeah, that one is good. I watched the whole Quinn’s Quest video (45 minutes) and that’s what sealed the deal for me. I’ve been sick of fantasy (and specifically D&D) for a while, but it’s such a fucking ask to convince four other adults to read a 300 page book. Whereas, with Mothership, all they need is a character sheet and a real quick session 0 to get started.
Quinn’s Quest’s video didn’t hurt, haha. I love sci-fi like that, and the rules seem well-made for tension.

My favorite TTRPG is also the only one I’ve played in years: GURPS. Yes, I am unhinged, yes, I’ve pirated everything, and yes, I use so many houserules that on several occasions my group have wondered what constitutes “still being GURPS”. The next game I plan to run is inspired by Dynasty Warriors and Crusader Kings 3, and will be played in Tabletop Simulator due to the boardgame-like nature of my intended mass combat mode. Is this still GURPS? We may never know.
Sadly for wargames I can’t get my group to stop playing Warhammer even though almost nobody seems to actually enjoy the games (one player in our crusade has lost every game they’ve ever played, usually by being tabled). I’d say Grimdark Future by OPR but I only ever managed to convince one person to play the game once and everyone else doesn’t want to have to “learn a whole new system”.
