    I would say it is either a black staining polypore: meripilus sumstinei or maybe a Berkeley polypore: Bondarzewia berkeleyi. I’m kind of leaning towards the latter if it is not staining black when bruised, which would be an obvious tell for the former.

    What part of the world?

    If it’s in the US, kind of looks like it could be a chicken mushroom/sulphur shelf (laetiporus sulphureus).

        Yeah I don’t know, could also be a Berkley’s polypore. The coloring and the fact that it’s just on the ground is throwing me off, but there could be wood or a root system that it’s on that we can’t see.

        I’m not good at this, but going solely off a photo and location it has a pretty good chance of being one of those two.
